For mommies of toddles that do NOT use baby monitors at night...

Do you sleep with your bedroom doors open or closed? I REALLY need to turn the monitor off so I stop waking up at every little sound he makes in his sleep. DS is 16 months old. We sleep with our bedroom doors closed at night. What do you do? Doors opened or closed? TIA!

Closed. Even when she was in her crib and couldn't come open the door, we slept with them closed. She's loudChat Icon But in the 2 years she's been on this planet, she's never been one to wake too often at night.

I have the video monitor on - but with the sound off. That way if/when he does wake I know when to actually go in and get him.

Both our doors are partially open (8 inches or so). His bedroom is across the hallway. I want to hear him if something happens.

Re: For mommies of toddles that do NOT use baby monitors at night...

Both doors are always closed. I've never used the baby monitor-we can hear big mouth without a problem anywhere in the house. He's 15 mo and can not reach the handle yet, and when he can, I will probably put a gate up. This is best for us because I used to wake up at every little sound and never get a descent nights sleep.

Also, keeping the doors shut while you sleep is a fire safety tip.

I do the same. Both our doors are cracked the tiniest bit.

his is closed and ours is closed if the air is on otherwise we keep it open. The rooms are right next to each other we can hear him tossing and turning so no real need for a monitor.

Re: For mommies of toddles that do NOT use baby monitors at night...

Both doors open a little.. and I put the gate up blocking the hall just in case .. (when we lived at our old place with stairs.. now everything is one level)

I have never used a monitor, but in all our our homes our room has been pretty close by to his..

I would have done the exact same thing with a monitor and waken up at every little thing

I have a video monitor on at night, but with the sound off so if I hear her cry I can just look and see what's up. Her door is closed, ours is open usually. I can hear her right through the wall.

Both doors are closed and we haven't used a monitor since he's 5 months old.

I can hear through the wall...having the monitor on drove me crazy after a while and I slept so much better when we put it away!

DS's door is closed and ours is usually slightly open. I only use the monitor for him when he is upstairs napping and I'm downstairs because I can't hear him from down there. What kind of monitor do you have? We have the sony babycall and it's sound activated so it only turns on when he is talking or crying.

I think that is the one that I have, but even it coming on when he is tossing and turning wakes me up.
