For those of you that have a DC with a Cow's Milk Sensitivity or Allergy
Were you successfully able to start them out with yogurt? If so at what age?
How about cheese and eggs?
I was advised by the pediatrician when DD started solids that I should stay away from all of the above until a year due to the suspected Cow's Milk Sensitivity.
I am going to bring this up again on the 3rd when I take DD for her 9 month visit.
I don't want to be overly aggressive, but at the same time would like her to be able to experience as much as she can.
Also, can you tell me of your experiences with your transition to milk? Was it successful- if so at what point- right away or did it take time? If not, what did you give your DC instead? DD is on Nutramigen and we are getting it through insurance until she turns 1. At that point if she still needs to be on it, I am not sure they will extend it or if we will start having to pay for it on our own. Again a conversation to be had at the dr. but would love to hear the experiences of others so I know what I may or may not be in for.
TIA!

Re: For those of you that have a DC with a Cow's Milk Sensitivity or Allergy
My ped. recommended we start with yogurt when he was about 11 months. He didn't have a reaction to it, but he didn't like it at all. So she said try cheese (american). We did, he loved it, and no reaction.
When he turned one, she told us to transition from BM (I was dairy-free while BFing) by using Lactaid whole milk, since lactose can cause a reaction. He has not had any problems on the Lactaid, so we stuck with it. We will be discussing switching to regular milk @ his 15 month check up, which is coming up soon. But he eats cheese, ice cream, cream cheese & butter, so I am sure he will be fine.

My DS was on Gentlease.
My ped had us start yogurt at 9 months (maybe 8?) but besides that, we didn't do any table food or meals until he was 11.5-12 months

Re: For those of you that have a DC with a Cow's Milk Sensitivity or Allergy
I have been wondering about this as well. at our last visit ( 7 mnth) last week, the Ped said we could slowly introduce over the next 10-12 weeks yogurt , cheese and eggs , then items with eggs like french toast, pancakes to chloe but I'm so scared to try. I think I might actually make an appointment with the GI and get his opinion before trying.
I hope others respond to this about how their kids were starting it.
i forgot to ask if I would look for blood in the stool again like with the milk allergy originally?,

And this is even more why I am confused. Mia's stool never tested for blood, so it is considered a sensitivity and not an allergy.

The GI doctor told us no dairy at all until he turns one. I BF and they told me to avoid it in my diet until then too.
There is a coconut milk yogurt that tastes pretty good. I would assume that's OK to give, but I'm going to ask my ped about it at my next appointment.
