for those of you that used a midwife, did they accept your insurance 100% or was it considered out of network?
agh! i realy want to use a midwife, but i called one so far and they only accept insurance as out of network.
did you find a midwife that accepts your insurance 100%?

Stony Brook Midwives is who I used and my delivery and prenatal care was covered 100%.

Same here. They delivered all 3 of my kids and I never received a bill. Midwives must be covered under a Dr. because they are not allowed to perform c-sections. (my mom is a midwife too) The midwives are considered part of the Dr. Practice. Is the Dr in the practice under your plan?

unfortunately, stnybrook is too far out for me. i live in nj 20 min. from the lincoln tunnel so i am looking into NYC practices.
today i will go through my insurance to find someone... im just hoping they are affiliated with a hospital. not interested in home births...

I was seen by a midwife throughout my pregnancy and my insurance was accepted.

I went to a mw that was with a solo OB - no problems w/ons. i did need 2 c/s, but my mw was there as the nurse

I was seen by a midwife throughout my pregnancy and my insurance was accepted.
Same with me. The OB/GYN practice that I use has both doctors and midwives on staff that see you.

I did not use a midwife - but wanted to say - check your insurance- I thought most if not all will cover you if you find one in your insurance plan - it is the same as going to any dr in your plan (if they don't take your insurance you would be going out of network).
