Did or do you pick a name that "goes" with your first childs name?

Kind of-I lean towards the traditional so for DD and DS their names seem to "go together".

However, this time around I'm throwing a few non traditional names in the mix and it's kind of bothering me that they don't "go" with the names of my DD and DS. It's one of the things holding me back from pushing for them (Mallory, Peyton, Alistair).

i like them to all flow together- i practice yelling names around the house to determine if it sounds ok.

There's no rhyme or reason to the names we think of. We both just have to like them. I will begin to throw some names around once we know the gender of the baby.

just that we knew we wanted another Irish name that is easy to pronounce and doesnt rhyme with DD"s name..which a few that I liked did!

We don't worry about if they go together necessarily, just make sure they don't rhyme, or create a funny association, or anything else like that.

We didn't...all we knew that if it was a girl we didn't want both of them to start with the letter 'A'

But then again...we didn't pick out a first name until the night before my water broke and didn't pick the middle name until an hour before my section

yes, absolutely. We chose Logan & Gavin...2 scottish names to go with our scottish last name.

I do. My son has a "unusual" name or at least spelling (Rhys) and I don't want to name something super plain were she'd feel like we didn't spend time thinking about hers.

BTW: DH thinks I'm ridiculous when I talk about this.

Yes, most of the names that we are considering for #2 I've thought about how it will sound with my ds's name.

Yes. We wanted something as timeless as our firsts name is, Amelia Grace. We choose Kate Marie for a girl and Noah Christopher for a boy.

Ye sand we wanted some small form of consistancy with the name. DD is Emily and DC#2 will have a Y in their first name as well. You would never really noticed we did that on purpose, but for me it's a nice balance
