Do you consider other LIF baby names as out of the question when thinking of names for your next child?

Just thinking, I relate so many of your little one's names to you all, and it's just like a real-life friend, the name would make me stop to think when naming my next child.

Am I the only weirdo? Chat Icon

ETA to clarify and below too.

Re: Do you consider other LIF baby names as out of the question when thinking of names for your next child?

It all depends on how close you are to the other. If its a "family' name or made up one then I would not concider using it. But if its a common name and you fall in love with it.. why not?
I love my baby's name and would be happy if someone else wants to call their child it.
Your not a weirdo...lol Chat Icon

Not at all. A fellow LIF has the same exact name as DD middle name and all. We just happen to have very similar taste.

That's a good question..I think that for the people I talk to a lot I would definitely pause if I was thinking of using the same name as one of the DC - maybe even FM them about it.

But I don't really know - probably would still use it if I loved it.

Not a weirdo, but no I don't consider LIF names off limits. The only names I consider off limits are my close circle of friends and closed family.

Nope. Never thought of it.

Now as a teacher of 13 years there are a lot of names I couldn't even think of using because they reminded me of certain students... oh, I'm not takling about the honor studentsChat Icon And, yeah, 13 years, over 100 students a year= a lot of potential names off of the list

No. I know I don't have the only Elizabeth on here, but DD's name was going to be Elizabeth long before LIF even existed! Nothing would have changed that.

Not at all! I am a teacher and some names conjur up certain kids so that is more likely to discourage those names.

I was so scared my SIl would take one of "my" names. This site wouldn't bother me as I will likely never meet 95% of the babies!

Yeah, I do agree with you ladies. I wouldn't NOT pick a name if I loved it. I associate so many of the names to your babies/kids on here, that's the thing.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. NEVER would I make personal decisions about my life based on an internet chat room. I would be shocked if anyone would to be honest. Not unless you are personal friends outside this site. And I mean TRUE friends not someone you met a few times

I do in that I can see what names are becoming extremely common (in which case I wouldn't use them - just my own thing there). But no, I wouldn't not name my child something just because someone else has that name on here. Cousins and friends' babies narrow that field enough already.

Someone here has a son with the same first and middle names as Connor! I never looked at this site unitl after he was born.

My first thought was it's a great name Chat Icon

Re: Do you consider other LIF baby names as out of the question when thinking of names for your next child?

I will pick the name I like. Regardless whose DC has the same name here.

Since I am convinced I will have girl if we are lucky enough to have a #2, we already have the name picked (in case #1 would have been a DD). It's a more popular name than I though but still love it and would use it.

And yes, you are a weirdo..Chat Icon Chat Icon but we love ya!!!!!

Nope never though of that. I know ABCiverson's daughter is named Chelsea though she calles her Brooke and that would not have stopped me from using the name! It is a great nameChat Icon

I didn't go on the parenting board before I had DD, so I had no idea there were so many Alexandras on here.

Would I have chosen differently? Perhaps...

No. In fact when I read that Scotty-CassidysMom named her daughter Cassidy. I loved it. And even asked my husband what he thought of it. ( We ended up with other names. )

No, if I love a name, it wouldn't matter. If it was a IRL friend, that's something different than a LIF friend.
