for those who called LIPA to report a power outage
did they call you back to give you updates?
Just curious. . . I called them yesterday at 9:30AM and I still have not received any sort of update. The annoying part is that the people on the other side of the street have power, my side is still out.

We just got an email here from HR:
A LIPA spokesperson just announced they anticipate return of power to 90% of their effected customers by this Friday.

Re: for those who called LIPA to report a power outage
I called and was told through the automated system that I'd get a call back when power was supposted to come back. I never did, but we got power at 2am.

Re: for those who called LIPA to report a power outage
My power is out but so are hundreds of thousands on LI so I am not shocked, angry, disappointed or mildly pizzed by not getting a callback from Lipa. Maybe when it's all over with it will be decided that Lipa handled it poorly (or not) but I don't know what everyone wants them to do. I have family in other states without power that are getting similar time frames for their power to be back. A phone call...really...so what? I don't really need a call to tell me anything. My power back on will be pretty obvious and while I was irritated seeing the only house on my block that was lit was the one across the street with 8 outdoor spotlights shining bright - and currently not even inhabited - it's a lot different than your average day for outages so Im cutting them a break at T+2.

We got a call yesterday that said they hoped we'd have power by last night...our neighbors told us the power went up around 10 am yesterday!

Me getting upset won't get my power back on any sooner, so I'm going to take it easy.

Same! I started calling Sunday at 9am, didn't get through until 10pm
ETA: I don't CARE they didn't call, the question was, did i get a call. The answer is no. They shouldn’t advertise they will call you if they can't or don’t have the resources, just don’t say you will call then.

Re: for those who called LIPA to report a power outage
They didn't call us. Entering information into their web site is like going into a cyber black hole. We called them again yesterday and were told Friday at the earliest.
I thought there was some hope last night when the power came back for 30 seconds, but then everything went out again. No power since Saturday.

Thing is, they shouldn't promise a phone call and not follow through. THAT is not good customer service. Don't promise a call if you can't deliver (and I understand why they can't).

Exactly. If they are not going to call anyone, dont say you will get a call back. What they should have said is to keep checking throughout the day/night to see if there are any updates....

I have called them a million times. still no power, and no call back either.
I hate LIPA. I was actually excited to go to work today to log on to the computer, drink cold water and sit in a room full of lights!!!!!!!!

Re: for those who called LIPA to report a power outage
I am having my mom re-call. They turned on most of her block but, not her.
This was the same for a friend and when he saw a LIPA truck he asked them what was going on and they thought they had turned him back on already because the fixed something and didn't realize it didn't turn the whole block on. So they had crossed him off the list! Not their fault, really. They could't see any obvious damage and they repaired the transformer which should have turned everyone back on. So they moved onto the next problem. So in the case of my Mom, I am having her re-call just in case it was the same kind of thing. The guys were upset that it didn't work and got to work on trying to find the problem right away.
