For those who have moved OOS...
Can you tell me why you did? Where you moved and if you love it.
Thanks

Re: For those who have moved OOS...
we moved for a better quality of life/cost of living....mostly so that we could buy a nice house and pay all of the bills on one salary and so that I could be a SAHM....best decision ever, we love it....we live in a beautiful area in a gated community, we are 10 minutes to the beach and1hr to everything in Orlando, our neighborhood is family friendly, things to do, beautiful weather....Sept will be 2 years for us and so far no regrets....
the things that made the move easier for us was that my DH transferred (so he kept his job and salary) and my parents live 35 mins away....i think if my family wasn't here we'd still love it now but i know when we have kids it will be nice to have my family close by....i know if we were isolated from everyone it would be harder...

Re: For those who have moved OOS...
Not out of state but upstate NY. We always knew we wanted to move but it wasnt until we started looking at houses on LI that we decided to start taking the steps to leave LI. Just based on the prices of houses on LI and the taxes we knew we did not want that financial burden and stress.
We now have a beautiful home for like 1/3 of what we would have paid for it on LI. We also have nice property and much much cheaper taxes.
In addition to the cheaper cost of living people as a whole are a lot nicer up here and its more laid back.

Re: For those who have moved OOS...
Moved to NC 4 years ago, we do not regret it at all. I miss being near my family, but since we've moved down my mom followed (actually moves into her new town house in Oct) and my BFF and her family moved down. In laws are here every 1-2 months and I think they will move down in the next few years.
We moved for a better quality of life for our little unit-we have 2 kids now and 1 more on the way. We have short commutes, easier living in general. It just suits us.
I hope more of my family moves down and I miss our close couple friends that we used to hang out with but it has all been worth it.

Re: For those who have moved OOS...
Wanted to be a stay at home mom...he did not want to commute. Driving back down to Charlotte now from a quick trip back up to visit. My life down here just doesn't even compare. I would never move back. We enjoy our visits up-my kids have gone to so many museums and exhibits in NYC. It is the best of both worlds-I don't have to live there. I have found that I am someone who draws energy off of my surroundings. Itis just so clean and lush down there. From my four year olds mouth- it is so old here, why is there gum everywhere, why are people leaving trash bags out, why is that man sleeping on train?

Same! Since moving my Mom has followed and my brother and his wife relocated here (but they weren't living on LI before).
However, while my mortgage is cheaper, my taxes are MORE than what they would be if I lived on LI.
