Q for parents that moved OOS (far enough to fly)
So we are still considering a cross-country move (1500 miles), but I have a question regarding logistics. We have two DC and a dog. And more than one car. How did you/would you do this? Would I fly with the kids (with someone else to help I guess) and DH drive one car with the dog? Would we send the other cars with our furniture, etc.? The dog doesn't fly. IDK if I could do a 24 hour drive with two toddlers! Anyone have experience?

Re: Q for parents that moved OOS (far enough to fly)
My aunt and uncle moved from NY to California with 2 kids and furniture. It was many years ago, but I think they had one of them drive the car and the other drove a moving truck.
My cousin has moved a few times with her three children (all under 4 yrs old). She moved from California to Texas and then from Texas to Minnesota. They had one of their parents come with them. One person drove a minivan with kids and stuff. One drove a car with stuff. One drove a moving truck (my cousin, her DH, and his mom did the last move).

My old boss moved from NY to Kansas City a few years back with his wife, dog and two kids.
He drove out the dog and the rest of the stuff, including the second car was shipped. His wife and kids flew.

Re: Q for parents that moved OOS (far enough to fly)
I have moved cross country multiple times and recently moved from Nashville back to New York.
What I would do in your case is fly with twins and have your DH drive with the dog. If he doesn't want to drive alone then you could give the dog a sedative and have him fly under the plane. Continental and Delta have special areas for the pets with climate control.
I drove with DS the 16 hour drive and we took it slow and stopped often, so if you want to do the drive it is totally doable, just might not be too much fun.
