For those you aren't finding out the gender
Are people giving you a hard time about it? After we tell people we are having a baby the first question is are you finding out what you are having. We say no and they looked totally shocked like we are living in the stone age. Then they ask your kidding right your not going to find out? I am sick of explaining to people that DH and I want to wait.

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
I feel your pain. My mil was like what do you mean you are not finding out. I told her I want a surprise and she was all shocked. The thing that gets me is she is superstitious and won't buy anything before the baby is born anyway so why does she need to know. . Wait till she finds out we are not telling anyone our name picks either until the baby is born

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
It's funny, I get a very mixed reaction. Some friends of ours were actually pi$$ed that we weren't finding out. "You mean to tell us we have to wait to know what your baby is?" My comment to them was for them to have another baby and they can find out for themselves!
Other people seem really excited that we are waiting! As though we are an endangered species and they are happy to see some of us still exist!!! It's like the other post from today, everyone has an opinion whether it is from gender to breastfeeding to epidurals. You will always find someone who voices their opinion that is oposite of yours!
Make it a game for them. I tell people that we are either having a boy or a girl... they can guess... they have a 50/50 chance of guessing right!!!!
Go team !!!!!!!!!

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
I get two reactions:
1. Oh good - it's better that way 2. No way - YOU guys arent finding out???
Then a few of our friends think we know the sex but just arent telling!

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
I get mixed reactions...some people are happy that we are not finding out and some are like "what do you mean you are not finding out?" I mean I am not finding out.....
I don't let them get to me.....its every person's decision why they do or don't want to know..I don't ...I want to experience the labor and delivery and get that "it's a ....." from the doctor.

I have also been getting "Well you know that everyone is going to buy you green and yellow and that is it." I happen to like green and yellow.

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
I got the opposite from my podiatrist last week. Yes, my podiatrist offers his opinions on the most intimate details of my life. He said "why do you want to find out? Why don't you just wait? Why ruin the surprise??"
I told him that when he has a child, he can wait until it's born to find out the sex. And then he told me there was no reason for me to have attitude.
You can't win!

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
I get that reaction all the time. My mother was giving me grief about it a couple of weeks ago. It is amazing how they thnk we are nuts. DH would prefer to find out but is ok with waiting since he knows I want to wait. Why is this so strange now?

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
YES!!!!!!
I have been on a roller coaster with this.
For a while it was:
Why WOULDN"T you want to find out? Ummm, because it's DH and my child and not yours.
But lately people have been really supportive of it and saying it's a good thing!
What goes up I guess!!!!!!!!
Hang in there and don't let anyone get to you.

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
Tell them to shove it! I think it's great if you can wait. Although I love picking out cute little boy things part of me wishes I didn't know. It must be great to hear It's a .......... at delivery!

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
For those who ask us and give us a hard time when they find out that we aren't finding out I tell them this:
"Listen, there are only two choices- it's either a boy or a girl. We don't have multiple options, here. It's not like it could be a puppy."
That usually shuts them up and they laugh and they lay off.
Surprisingly I'm almost 32 weeks and it's been easy not knowing. I'm curious, but it certainly isn't killing us....
Hang in there- you're not alone in not wanting to tell...

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
we haven't told anyone yet, but I can't remember one family member that ever found out in my family...so I don't think anyone will have a problem with us not finding out...and if they do, tough noogies.

We went through the same thing. DHs aunt actually *threatened* to not buy anything b/c we were not finding out. Like that is why we had a baby....for the gifts

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
Our parents were a little disappointed because they are chomping at the bit to start shopping, but they are not upset about it and support our decision. We went to a BF class last week and almost half of the couples there have not found out what they are having. The instructor was very surprised. Maybe the trend is changing.

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
Someone always has something to say. We don't plan on finding out, but when I say to my mom that I'm not sure if we'll stick to that, that we might crack at the Level II, she says, "really, why would you want to find out?" Then I get my brother saying, "why WOULDN'T you find out - that makes no sense!"
You can't please everyone all the time so do what you want!

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
i'll admit it, i used to be one of those people who would ask "how could you not find out?" now that im pregnant and we have decided NOT to find out, i will never again give my unsolicited opinion on this matter---I guess I was just young & ignorant on how pregnancy is such a personal experience and people need to be totally respected for their choices

We didnt find out... most people just said "good for you."
When it was getting closer to buying gifts, some people said it would be easier if they knew, but that was it....

See some people said that to me too closer to my shower date, and I never got why it bothered them SO much, I mean just buy what I want on my registry and call it a day! lol
I didn't want any clothes cause I hate green and yellow, so I made it clear to everyone that I only want what on my registry.

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
To me, there was never another option. Its interesting because I know of 5 pregnant people and only 1 is finding out...I was surprised because I thought more people were finding out. People are surprised we have the willpower, especially since we had an amnio and the gender is written in our chart. Some people have said "oh so everything will be green and yellow" as if its negative....Im pretty sure we will get some color specific clothing at some point and for the other stuff....Id want neutral anyway for the next baby.

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
DH & I are having twins and decided not to find out the gender(s). To our surprise, both of our families supported the decision and are reveling in finding out with us! Sure, you have to make the nursery neutral colors, but we were planning to do that anyway.

Re: For those you aren't finding out the gender
i get mostly positive responses. "oh that's so wonderful"... "It's better that way". Some think i'm caving when I ask them what they think I'm having..but I just want to know what their guess is.
