? For Toddler Mommies who do CIO
DS is 2. Is it normal that we are going through yet ANOTHER CIO time? He was doing so well, and now for the past three nights he has cried for about 10 minutes after I put him to bed. Is this normal? WTH am I going to do when we move him to a toddler bed.... NO WAY would he stay in his bed if he could get out...........
Any opinions or BTDT advice?

Re: ? For Toddler Mommies who do CIO
My DS is 15 months and we started CIO when he was 9 months. He goes through stages. He now cries for about 5 min or so when we put him down. What I plan to do if need be when he is in a toddler bed is to sit in there with him for a while until he goes to sleep because I know he will not stay by himself.

Well, if it is only crying for a few minutes, I would think that was more that he was overtired or upset that he had to go to bed and end the fun, you know?

DS is doing this now too. He's 20 months. Just recently he gets up after being down for 10 or 15 minutes and screams at the top of his lungs. He doesn't need help every night. But a few times we have gone in and he just snuggles right into us, drinks some more and wants to go back in his crib within 5 minutes. We aren't sure what's going on. Could it be the 2 year molars? beats me.

That's kind of what I'm wondering, maybe he's overtired or something. It's been so nice here we've been running like crazy outside in the evenings until bath time. I also was away for the weekend for the first time for more than a night. Do you think that could still be it almost a week later? It just is breaking my heart, but I KNOW that if I went in there even one night it would never end. And I CANNOT go in to soothe him either. Once I leave I have to stay out and it's just so hard...... Am I doing the wrong thing? This just stinks........
Thank you all for your advice......

Would they only bother him at night when I'm putting him in bed? I just don't know. Should I be going to him? I wish I had all the answers for myself...... LOL. Life would be so much easier. It just stinks that he went to be SOOOOOOOOOO easily, and now it's like we're back to square one, except the crying doesn't last quite as long as it did a year ago......

Re: ? For Toddler Mommies who do CIO
Bumped for advice for morning mommies.... Anyone have any insight? I hate when he cries at night and the past two nights have been bad. I thought we were done with the CIO thing once we got past the initial bad period.....

Shannon - it's completely a phase. Give it a few more nights and he'll be back to going down easily. I notice that Jack goes through spurts every few months. I wouldn't go into him - he's not used to that and can just confuse him!
ETA: When are you thinking of putting him in a toddler bed?

Re: ? For Toddler Mommies who do CIO
when I moved dd to a big girl bed, the first few weeks she stayed in bed no problem
then she went through a phase where she would cry when I put her into bed, run to the door, bang on the door to get out, and eventually fall asleep on the floor RIGHT near the door. That was tough and lasted about 3 weeks
then we started going in there and telling her she had to stay in bed and that worked. Now she goes down with NO issues and it still in bed when I go in, in the morning, to get her ready

Re: ? For Toddler Mommies who do CIO
DS is a little over 2 1/2 and "cries" every night when we leave the room. He is actually just pretending to cry at this point since there are no tears and he laughs the second we look at him! He is not ready to go to bed because there are a million toys downstairs and mommy and daddy aren't there to talk and play with him. Needless to say, he is asleep before we even get downstairs!
Stick to you guns. You will know if he really is in pain or needs you

LOL, I have NO plans on doing that any time soon. If he would stay in his crib until he was 7 that would be fine with me! My thinking is that I'll probably put him in a toddler bed when we get more serious with the potty training, and he's not ready for that yet either... When are you planning on moving Jack to the toddler bed? Do you think he'll stay in the bed with no problem?

There is no shot in he!! he will stay in a bed so I have no plans to take him out any time soon at all. I'm not messing with a good thing. I'm even buying this next baby a full new crib set just because I know he's so not ready for a bed. I will maybe start thinking about it when he is 3
