For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
What are you doing about DC's last name?

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
I have a double barrelled last name and the baby has my husbands last name. We do know some people who double barrel the kids last name, but this was easier for us.

I haven't out of sheer laziness, but the baby will DEFINITELY have husbands last name... and eventually I will too!

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
I hadn't planned on changing my last name, but I gave in.
If I hadn't, the baby would have been given DH's last name only.

My children will have DH last name. I didnt not change my last name, and i dont have a problem with my kids having his last name and not mine.

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
I haven't changed mine b/c going to the DMV is SO annoying
But our DS will have DH's name (the whole thing actually!)
Hypenating is always an option, oddly enough, if we had had a girl, I would have wanted to give her my maiden name as a middle name.
My SIL gave my neice her last night....and her DH changed his name too...

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
I only changed mine on my license and that was almost 6 mo. after we got married . I was too lazy to make it to the DMV. I have not changed it on my SS card b/c that is even more of a pain. But the baby will take DH's (our) last name. One day I will change it on my SS card too.

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
OK I guess I meant women who have no plans to take DH's last name....
I think baby will just take DH's last name - fortunately I have nephews on my brothers' side to carry on the family name. If it were a shorter name I would use it as a middle name - but it's just too darn long. WHereas DH's is short.

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
I hyphenated and we just gave DD DH's last name.
Sadly, though, because my hypenated name is SO long, my DD's hospital ID only had my last name. I wanted them to change it, but they said it was reflective of the patient (me) and the birth certificate is something different.

My friend is hyphenating the babies name with her last name, and her husbands last name. It sounds really cute!

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
I've thought about this question a lot. Baby will have DH's last name, with my last name as his middle name. In my case, this sounds better than hyphenating.

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
I never changed my last name and it drove my dh nuts in the hospital because they used my last name for the baby the entire time. I thought it was kind of cute, but of course my dh did not. He got my dh's last name. Our compromise is that all of our children get a middle name from my side of the family. My son is now three and his pediatrician, school, etc all call me Mrs.....(son's last name). I sort of like that, but still enjoy legally having my family name for professional reasons.

Re: For women who did NOT change their last name when they married...
I'm not married to my SO, and the baby will have my last name. I don't really think it's a big deal who's name the baby has to be honest. He/she was created by the mother and the father, so regardless of the name, it still belongs to both

i have no plans of changing my last name, but our child will have DH's last name. i like the idea of my children carrying on the name of their father, like i did.
