Freddy Update aka Lt. Dan
Just wanted to tell about our visit last night. We got there late and he was up and his eyes were open. He was looking around at all of the IV bags and the machines. He was definitely not lucid but there were times he looked over at me and looked me dead on and had the recognition for me. That gives me hope. The nurses there had just cleaned him up and they did a great job. He was in some pain and they gave him morphine. I held his hand and told him I loved him and about all the stuff going on. I told him I was getting him a radio to hear the Yankee games. I think he liked that.
We didn't want to leave him there but life goes on. In a few more days we should be better able to tell how much higher brain function there will be. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

I definitely think the radio is a good idea. When my sister was in the hospital and sedated, we left the TV on for her all the time. Sometimes when we walked in it really looked like she was watching it.
