Fresh vegetables vs. frozen

Just wondering - are fresh vegetables better for you than frozen?

I've always stayed away from frozen vegetables for the most part (other than for things like peas).

Are frozen veggies cheaper?
Do they have the same nutritional content or are their other additives in there?

I use both fresh and frozen the same. Frozen veggies, as long as they arent in a cheese or cream sause are the same as fresh.

If I have a recipe in mind, I will use fresh veggies. But if I just want to stock up and dont have a specific plan in mind, I will buy frozen just because I can save them for when I need them.

If I'm making a certain veggie on a certain night and I'm in the store that same day I will buy fresh. Otherwise, I almost always use frozen.

Usually use frozen, but I do buy fresh veggies once in a while. Love the ones in the steamer bag that you just throw in the microwave and comes out perfectly. Sooo easy! I get a bunch from BJ's

Re: Fresh vegetables vs. frozen

from a health standpoint, frozen is usually healthier than fresh! (becuase veggies have the most nutritional content at the peak of season and when freshly picked... and that's when they freeze them.... fresh veggies are frequently out of season, or even in the summer, are trekked 1/2 way across the country... all that time they're losing their vitamins!

Oh really? That's interesting!

I mostly try to buy California veggies and fruits, since that's where I am... KWIM?

Never realized this. I always tried to stay away from frozen veggies, with the exception of spinach & brocolli.

Depends on what I'm using them for.

Eating them raw=Fresh

Soup=Fresh

Salad=Fresh

Cooking/StirFry/Side Dish=Both-whichever is on hand and easier.
