Friday Q...what is something you had when you were a child, that you wish you had now.
for me, it's a walk up attic in my house.
when i was a child, our house had a walk up attic (ceilings were a bit over 6 ft and we had a partially spiral staircase leading up to it)
I was about 12 or 13 when I finally got my own room up there, but as a small child, the four rooms of the attic were empy, except for storage.
the front room had a built in closet/desk/storage system, and I used to pretend it was the closet to Narnia and since I was small, I could actually crawl through the drawer spaces and get from one side to the other, highlighting the effect.
I was my special place. I think it would be cool to have that now and I miss it.
anyone else?

Big yard. Growing up, we had a 100x200 yard, and the house was on one of the 100x100 plots, so almost the entire other half of the yard was for playing. We had lots of trees and a garden. We would ride our bikes in the backyard, run around, etc.

Mine is not tangible, but I wish I had my family. We always had huge holidays (my mom is one of 11) and we were all really close.
Now...my bro has been missing for years, he, mom and gma are all MICA. We have all drifted apart and feelings of anger and isolation and humiliation have destroyed our closeness.
I miss them.

Re: Friday Q...what is something you had when you were a child, that you wish you had now.
I just miss my childhood home. It was a 2 family and we lived side by side with my grandparents. I miss that house and alllllllll those memories with my grandpa
I guess I just miss that time period. I'd like to be the age I am now, but go back to that time. I'd learn to appreciate things A LOT more.
make sense? So i guess it's not really a specific thing i'd like to have except i'd like to just have that decade back lol

I have to say this is what I feel like. I miss the Holidays more then an actual item. Espically Christmas, and the weeks leading up to it. I would go to my grandma's house every weekend and bake christmas cookies all day, then all the food for christmas eve. and tons of family and friends would spend the entire day and night in my grandparents huge basement. I miss that so much. No holiday compares to my childhood christmas eves. Nothing.

My size 6 body.
It seems so silly. But I look back at when I was a teenager in jr. high and high school... I had a really nice body and I thought I was fat! I didn't appreciate what I had.
Like I said, it seems silly, but it really kills me now to look at pics of me back then knowing how I felt about my self at that time.

I totally agree! I didn't hit 100 pounds until after college and I wore DH's boxers and T shirts to the beach. WHAT?!

My grandfather. He was such a great guy, such an awesome sense of humor. He died when I was 17. I wish he was around to meet DH. They would've gotten along great.

An Easy Bake Oven
mine led to a life long love of cooking...so this pregnancy notwithstanding, I will always have that! i loved that chocolate cake/brownie thing!!!!
I would also have to add a stoop. we don't have one on our current house (though we do have a front patio and a back deck)
when I was young, especially before my grandmother died, there was a gathering of friends and neighbors from my block on our stoop EVERY night in the summer.
we were pretty much equidistant from each corner, so it was the natural place to converge..that and my grandfather always had cold beer
we were also the first people on my block to have a pool (above ground... hey man, it's brooklyn!) so everyone would come over for swimming and bbq's in the back during the day, and then out to the stoop to meet up with the rest at night.
I HATED being IN my house most times, so being outside, and being invisible for the most part, suited me just fine!

Re: Friday Q...what is something you had when you were a child, that you wish you had now.
I had no fears or worries, and unfortunately I didn't know what it was to judge someone.
I say this all the time, that I wish I could go back to that time in my life, when I didn't judge anyone at all. I try SO hard not to, but I think its just a human thing, or at least as an adult

Re: Friday Q...what is something you had when you were a child, that you wish you had now.
being a new mom, I take this question from a different perspecitve... what did I have while growing up that I would like now so I can share it with DS.... (I'm also reading it as being about STUFF, not people, since it says 'something' not 'someone')
frankly, nothing... mainly becuase my mom takes care of him during the day, and she still lives in the home I grew up in... she even has most of my toys... so I am super-duper lucky.... I can pull-out my duplos (that probably are in a 30 year old tupperware container ) and play with DS if I wanted to... right in the same room I did as a kid... I can play in the same yard with him.... swim in the same pool....
It's been very very hard over the years to keep that home in the family (it's $$$ to maintain, and we no longer have the means we did when I was young), but somehow we managed.... now that DH and I have careers, I think we can make sure mom stays in it for good... and for that, I'm grateful
