Key Points
...
It's basically saying that if you're vaccinated, you can hang out at a friend's house without a mask. HIPPA does not apply to friends. They could never enforce this before, anyway, so now they are saying that the CDC says you can do it. If you're in larger groups, you still have to wear a mask.
These are guidelines and recommendations, so if people decide not to follow the CDC guidelines, they won't get arrested.
Who has been getting arrested now?
Arrested?!?
The CDC has always, and only, given guidelines and recommendations. Some people think that the CDC is giving out laws. Nobody ever has, or ever will be, arrested based on their recommendations.
Some people keep harping on "what if I don't follow the rules". If people don't want to follow the rules, they won't get arrested. That's all there is to my statements. I never said anyone ever got arrested. Not sure how that was interpreted by the statement "they won't get arrested"...
Totally get ur point now. I def misread it.

I am still not even close to being eligible for a vaccine nor is my husband. I am amazed that whole extended families are already almost fully vaccinated. Is everyone essential workers/teachers etc? Or does everyone in the world have comorbidities? I feel like nobody I know is vaccinated other than my parents because they are over 75.
My hubby and youngest are eligible for work and comorbidity. Myself and my oldest are not eligible at all I would think as we don’t fall into any categories.
There are also some ways around it (not saying anyone on this board did that) But my SIL has a chronic condition but it's not anything that is listed as a co-morbidity for Covid. It would be like me saying- well I have kidney stones, or I suffer from migraines- something like that- and she somehow had someone pull some strings so she could get it sooner based on that.
Unfortunately there are some people I know who lied, pulled strings or kinda sorta fit the Bill for the vaccine and got them already. All while I was spending my nights and early mornings helping senior citizens find vaccine appointments because they don’t know how to work the computer. Plus it’s almost impossible to get appts. It’s every man for themselves out there. But I believe in Karma - so there’s that.
I have autoimmune disease (graves) , some asthma and other chronic illnesses I’m not sure if any of that allows me to be eligible right now. But I also had covid and currently still have antibodies. I’m checking Again next month at my 90 day mark and if I don’t have them, I will look further into if I’m eligible yet. I feel that Waiting my turn is part of helping society even though I was terribly sick when I had Covid. I was able to recover without being hospitalized.

Thank God for the CDC or else I wouldn’t know how to live my life.
Yes. Did you know that you should wash your hands? I did not until they told me how important it is!! I also anxiously await their recommendation for what I can do this summer. I'd like to make plans.

I completely agree! I am not eligible but I have been going to the office every day since the start and seeing clients as needed.

Yes! They also said to make sure to use soap when washing hands and to stay home when I’m not feeling well. Gosh I would have never known any of this!

Re: Fully vaccinated people can gather without masks, CDC says
Why is anyone stressing over showing papers, getting arrested and HIPPA laws?? for goodness sake, the CDC puts out guidelines, RECOMMENDATIONS, for how to conduct yourself during a pandemic. They aren't laws. Who is actually walking around thinking you will be arrested for not wearing a mask? If you don't mask up you're not a criminal, just an a$$hole.
ALL you need to know right now about those who are vaccinated is that while they have protection against COVID unless they are with others who are also fully vaccinated, they need to continue to follow the same guidelines of masking and social distancing. This will no doubt be in effect until most are vaccinated and the threat of surges is behind us.
Quite honestly, and this is just my opinion, I really wouldn't have a problem with being required to show vaccination papers for certain things until we know for sure the pandemic is behind us. If you don't like it, get vaccinated or forgo large public gatherings like concerts where your unvaccinated self would present a possible risk to others.

I'm sure she can get a doctor's note regarding her condition as it's a real condition. However, it's not a condition listed as a comorbidity for Covid. It would be like me having my urologist sign a note saying I have kidney stones so I can get the vaccine. I feel like she's getting it in via someone pulling strings for her the way she made it sound.

The sad thing is that many people were not washing their hands nearly enough before this! I've seen wayyyy too many people leave public restrooms without washing

And those people still aren't. If you were a grown adult who didn't wash your hands after using the bathroom, the CDC telling you to wash your hands isn't the game changer that will make you decide you should.

I have always been a hand washer, HATE to have any dirt or even if I get pen on my hand I need it off lol. That said, I know many who still don’t wash their hands and have been fine. Guess their immune systems are good. Just not something I forgo.

I would have a major problem with that, even if I did get vaccinated. We are allowing others to control everything about our lives and now our bodies. What happened to my body, my choice? Is that only for some things?

It's a global pandemic, sometimes strict public health measures need to be taken. If you're vaccinated, this really shouldn't bother anyone.

Re: Fully vaccinated people can gather without masks, CDC says
HIPAA laws don't apply to stores and other non-medical venues.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/hipaa-wont-stop-stores-asking-about-your-health-11592152890
A June 3 letter suggests that conditioning access to shops or malls on presenting negative Covid-19 results is somehow a violation of the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, commonly known as HIPAA. This is legally incorrect. HIPAA only applies to “covered entities,” which consist of certain health-care providers, health plans (e.g., health insurers, Medicare) and health-care clearinghouses. HIPAA also applies to a covered entity’s business associates, e.g., those providing certain services to the covered entity. It does not apply to individuals, who are always free to reveal to anyone their health information, nor does it prevent a store owner, nursing home, theme park or restaurateur from requesting Covid-19 information as a condition of admission. Other laws, however, may come into play here, but not HIPAA.

Didn't you say in a previous thread that you would have no problem getting tested prior to go to an event? You would have to show that you took the test so how is this different. The beauty of this country is that everyone has a choice. You can take the vaccine or not take the vaccine. You can show your vac card or not show it. That is all up to you. Places, venues and other people also have choices and if they choose not have unvaccinated people at their places/events, then they have that right.

No, you wouldn't be throwing anything out of the window. Your full medical history would not be available to all, just proof of the vaccine which everyone who has received it now has. Like I said, if it kept the majority safer and helped push the pandemic to its end then I am all in.
You know how you keep telling everyone to stay home so you can live your best life? Well maybe if you don't want to be vaccinated you should just "stay home" or at the very least avoid large public gatherings for the safety of others. Unvaccinated individuals will pose a greater threat to everyone.

Fully vaccinated people can gather without masks, CDC says
This thread made me recall that I was reading something that said that employers may mandate vaccines for employees who are returning to work. It sounds like there are ways around it… Like if you decline, then you’d have to work from home. But essentially, employers can require it.
It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out in the various industries.
