Fun Fundraisers

Ok... I know early, but starting to think of next year. I'm on the board so we've been working on some ideas, activities and fundraisers. Especially since we lost a lot of money this year from not finishing off the school year.

We need to make up a lot of money and I wanted to ask you guys some of your fav fundraisers the kids did at elementary school. There are some we have to cancel like theater week bc it's a lot of money and may not be able to make it up with the sales.

We never had the adult BINGO night that was supposed to be last Friday night and that was a huge fundraiser. Also no book sales or other fundraisers.

Thanks and any ideas are welcome!

My community has done virtual bingo in the last few weeks and we raised a lot of money so I recommend you try that.

Re: Fun Fundraisers

Can I ask an honest question? Why not just charge higher dues?

It’s like $10 or $15 for each parent to join at my kids school and then they constantly ask for us to do fundraising throughout the year. As a working mom, I just can’t. I would prefer them to just ask for $50 or $100 or whatever and then get to skip out of selling all the things (cookies, wrapping paper, jewelry, box tops, etc).

I’m not trying to be obnoxious. I know our PTA does a lot for our kids and I appreciate them. I’ve just always wondered this.

I'm in charge of meal deal fundraisers and we had a profitable one at Wendy's which brought in $500 (which is good because we missed out on 4 with the pandemic).

Right now they are doing a cookbook. I have no interest in it so I don't know the details.

I agree with this 100%. I would gladly pay more dues. This way it's all done at once- up front- and you don't have to keep going back to people for money the whole year.
