Fustrating neighbors - WWYD

Background: my bf has lived in his apartment forever, grew up with the neighborhood kids, no problems with anyone. The only legal way to park in front of the house is to block the driveway (otherwise there is a fire hydrant) So technically him or the landlord can park there unless others want a ticket.

New neighbors move in across the street and their uncle is their tenant (Person A). About 2 weeks ago the bf & I parked across the street, in a legal spot, but NOT in front of the new neighbors house, the house next to them (Person B).

Person A comes up to us and "asks" us to move that he has a deal with Person B. Umm OK. How do you have a deal for a spot on the street and you don't even own the house? You don't own the street and you can't tell people where to park! A week later he got on my BF's case for parking there again, we also found out he knocked on someone else's door and asked them to move because it's "his" spot. Mind you this guy is able bodied and it won't kill him to walk down the block if he doesn't get a spot. This block has horrible parking and everyone knows that you park where you park and if you have to park down the block then so be it.

This morning the BF wakes up to find garbage from Person A and his landlords Labor Day party thrown all over his car. Garbage & food all over the car. So as he's cleaning it Person A comes outside, and moves his car back into he spot that my bf was in overnight. Then says he didn't do it, that's too childish, etc

WWYD? (Besides not parking there) You know it was him. I'm worried this is going to get worse. Now just not parking there is not always an option bc my bf is disabled and walking a long distance is an issue for him so a spot on the block is better than around the corner for him.

Thank you if you followed this and got thru it, it's just fustrating that an "adult" is so childish.

Wow.

I think I would keep parking there - and try to catch him in the act of vandalizing the car. Then I'd call the police on him.

There is a house on my mom's block with an older couple living in it, one of them is disabled. They leave their car on the street since it's easier for them to get into that way. Another neighbor, perfectly able bodied, used to park there all the time. She has a 1 car driveway and they have 3 cars. The older couple asked her to not park there and explained why, she went ballistic and started knocking on doors to "get people on her side". Chat Icon

The older couple somehow got the town to put a disabled parking only sign in front of their house, so now they call the cops if she parks there. Maybe that's an option for your bf.

is it an illegal apartment? if so, don't cause issues. park somewhere else.

if it's a legal apartment, park wherever you want. but be considerate--if someone was parking in front of your house all the time you probably wouldn't be happy. try to rotate along the block. you also don't "own the spot" so whoever parks there first gets it.

Conpletly understood. But we're not causing issues, this guy is telling everyone on the block not to park there "it's his spot". The bf parks in that spot rarely. With his schedule he gets home late at night and usually ends up parking far away. He is never in the same spot 2 days in a row.

He doens't look to park there, he just parks where there is a spot. Just like everyone else does.

And this guy parked in front of my bf's house several times and no one said a word to him.

I am glad that was solved for them. Some people are so rude.

We have heard of this, but since there is a hydrant in front of his house we don't think it's possible.
UGH 1.5 years of school left then we can get a house!
