Re: Gas heat service contract

we were told by the company that installed our gas burner that we did NOT need a service contract. Your gas burner doesnt need any maintenance. Some companies try and scam you into thinking you need a contract.

We had our gas conversion done almost 8 years ago and never have had any service on it.

we got one with universe appliance & gas in seaford, i dont know that its necessary but it cost about 280 i think for 14 months... the only reason we got it is because our heat was not working and we called them to see what was up.... well turns out all that was wrong was that DH stupidly forgot to shut the door of the burner correctly and the guy was going to charge us about $115 just to show up... so i told him we would purchase a contract to eat that cost, figured it would be good if anything happened in the future anyway.

We had a few "twicking" to do in the beginning after we had our burner installed. It did save us lots of $$$$.

Re: Gas heat service contract

We had our gas heating system installed by Burner King 5 years ago. I did have a contract the first year but was advised by friends that there is no real necessity for one. I haven't had one since and (knock wood) have had no problems. We do have a friend who is a plumber and could do any servicing or repairs if needed.
