Gas Stations Survey

do you just buy gas there? would you ever buy FOOD there? (not chips..but hot dogs, hamburgers, etc...hot stuff)

I think a gas station is for gas and chips. maybe the occasional bottle of water/soda.

Re: Gas Stations Survey

I would never buy hot food at a gas station unless it was like Wawa or something else along those lines (it's a PA thing). On a regular basis I don't buy anything but gas, but if we're traveling we might stop for a soda/candy/chips...

Gas and prepackaged goodies and water or soda etc.
I never have and never will buy hot food there or at a 7-11 either for that matter.

I can only imagine purchasing gas, junk food and soda from the gas station. Unless it is a Circle K, then I would get a slushie! Chat Icon

Gas and chips/water only

Our gas station always has hot dogs cooking on that rolling thing. DH always wants one, but won't do it - he just can't Chat Icon

Well, I wouldn't stop by the local Mobil mart for lunch, but on the road, I will eat almost anything.

Out of state, some of the gas staions have really fancy mini-marts attached to them. Somewhere in Maine, I came close to getting one of those 7-11 breakfast sandwhiches they microwave for you, but I got a granola bar instead.

I did it Subway in a truck stop in Pennsylvania once. It was was pretty surreal. It wasn't like your regular highway rest stop, it was a gas station, with a small store that sold things like repalcement windsheild wipers, and it had a small Subway counter. The tables were right there amongst the travel related products hanging on the wall.

Same here.

The closest I ever got was getting a bagel in one gas station store that had a special deli area.

I don't hesitate about drinks and quick snacks and maybe a small grocery item like cat food or paper towels.

Re: Gas Stations Survey

Gas, gum, drinks/beer...

That's the extent of my gas station purchases. Maybe the occasional cup of tea.

Re: Gas Stations Survey

I never thought about it. Most of the gas stations I go to are just gas and I'd never even think to buy water or chips there. I'll hit 7-11 for that.

I only get gas there.

but the only thing I have ever bought there is soda or water and that's only becuase we were puttinggas in the boat and realized we didn't have enough water and needed more.

Other then that, nothing else.

I never even go in to a gas station anymore.

Re: Gas Stations Survey

for me, only gas...I don't want my kid to bother me for something everytime I walk into one.

For DH...it could be 10 AM...he will come out with 2 hotdogs and a bag of boiled peanuts. The hotdogs are so thick and grossChat Icon If its too early for hotdogs he will come out with stuffed breakfast sausage...I have no idea what it's stuffed with.

Re: Gas Stations Survey

I think it's a regional thing b/c in some areas gas stations are more like rest stops with a lot of shopping.

However locally, here on the island, it's more of just a small convenience store with some small items - not very conducive to buying groceries per se.

I have however purchased some packaged stuff at a Hess station out in Manorville. It had a "grocery" section with things like gravy, bread crumbs, rice-a-roni, mayo, etc and yes, in a pinch I would stop in there for something quick.

That is the only station I've ever purchased anything other than gas, gum, cigarettes, a newspaper or a bottled drink of some sort from.

ITA-down in N and S Carolina lots of these gas stations have "restaurants" in them like Taco Bell, little Caesers etc. so yes in that case. Definitely not in NY-though my DH is a big fan o0f 7-11 food like cheeseburger big bites etc..

Only if it's one of those super gas stations. I know Hess has at least two gas stations on LI with Blimpies inside: Center Moriches and Bohemia. There's probably more like that on LI I don't know of.
