Gassy Newborn
DS is very gassy and it is making him so unhappy. We are having a hard time getting him to nurse for more than a few minutes at a time and he isn't sleeping much at all because he is curling up in discomfort from gas. I have tried the drops, gripe water, the miracle balnket and anything eles I can think of. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Gassy Newborn
Basically watch what you eat if you are BF'ing. Maybe you need to cut down on dairy.. I would do that for 2 weeks and see if you notice any difference. Also, onion, garlic, broccoli, leafy greens, spicy foods.
Also, bicycle his legs and gently push them into his stomach, you'll be surprised how much gas that lets out.
goodluck I remember those days I was in tears, but itll get better. Once DD hit 3 months she learned to deal with the gas without crying LOL... she just let one rip heheh.

I agree with all of this.
The only other thing I can add is try gentle massage on his belly.

Re: Gassy Newborn
are you BF or formula feeding?
number 2: You can try the following:
limiting gassy foods as PP stated if you are BF - espicially dairy Try Gentlease if formula feeding
Do bicycles with baby and try to lay their belly on your knees as you are sitting and gentle pats on the back.
Most babies are gassy between 4-12weeks due to a transient lactose sensativity (basically most babies have an under developed gut and don't produce adequate lactase enzymes).
Its frustrating...hopefully you can find the trick!

Re: Gassy Newborn
We fed in an upright, almost sitting up position to help the gas escape easier. Burped often throughout the feedings & then started using the Podee - (link)
