blackberry pic so not the best- I got moon over mubuai

I admitt I was stumped over the colors- nothing was grabbing me for a summer color- but I am very happy with this

and the no drying and price seals the deal- if they last 2 weeks like that said the amount of time I am saving makes up for the difference in price on 2 mani's that chip after a few days!

Thanks! Looks good.
Im going to either start going there or talk to my nail salon...I want to pay $20 esp If I continue to do this.

I will take a pic of mine...at end of 2wks.
So far week on, no chipping, breaking of nail and still shiny.

There are a million places that do gel mani's near W. Babylon? I have called a few to see and everyone has told me no so far.. If you know anything specific please let me know.. TIA
Wantagh Ave isn't that far for me (about 15 minutes) but of course I would love to find something five minutes away.

thanks...I def want to see yours after 2 weeks!

I wouldn't pay $35 for this - but I think $20 is fair- tell them other places are charging $20

I had this done at a place near me they charged $35, and it chipped after week 1Chat Icon I had the french though.

I would love to know if there is another place that does this for less then that in the commack/smithtown/northport area?? Anyone know of a place?

How did they do the french? Did they paint the white tip with polish?

I asked about french and he told me they could do it- but he didn't recommed it b/c it would chip

He told me opi has a french version of this gel coming out in september

they painted on the white then put the uv gel over. it chipped really quickly, and I don't believe it was opi, in fact I'm pretty sure it wasn't. I really want to try the OPI uv gel, I just need a place local to my areaChat Icon

Re: Gel Manicure- Review (w/pic of nails)

Yep! That happened to me last week! I got a "gel" french mani with nail polish...chipped after 2 days

Got all spider webby on every nail...one nail started peeling up

It was not opi gel...

The opi system has 6 products they use...I don't feel like this is going anyway - even after 2 weeks

Hope you find a place out by you!

After a thread on getting manicures and the polish chipping within two days...this was me.

The gel mani that a few girls posted had me curious so I went for a mani today and inquired about this.

They just got it in, and said ok, lets try it.
I was their 1st real client to get it.
OPI product. 8 colors is what they offer.

You get a regular mani, then there is a mini process.

A spray, a bonder polish, then a base, sit under UV light, then color applied 2/3 times under UV light each time, then top coat that finishes it off.
You are dry and shiny.
Process took about an hr.

I got the strawberry margharita color today.

I dont love the color at all. Its very sheer on and not very appealing on my nails/skin tone.
After 3 coats, still you can see my nails.
It seemed a lot darker on the box.

The concept, yes...to protect your nails and not have chipping/peeling and then you go back in two wks for a soak and change of color.

I will wait the two wks out even though I hate the color, lol

but my nail girl asked if I could do that and see how it works out and would change color free of charge if I wanted.

Cost $35

Salon- SB One Nail in Seaford

Re: Gel Manicure- Review (w/pic of nails)

Bump-

its 2wks tomorrow but Im going today for nails.

Im returning to my place for it, they are offering a FREEBIE since I didnt care for my last color.

-Nails in tact. You just see growth.
One nail as you can see is chipped. I slammed it into my washer. Ouch!

Def worth doing, if like me you are rough with your hands/nails. No chipping!
They grow as well...so its nice to see that.

I am going to keep doing this

I am so glad you are getting a freebie...you should tell them about the other place charging $20...it's in the same area

Glad to see they held up! Let me know what color you get.

I caved and got it last night at the only place near me (paid $35). Like Beth none of the colors were grabbing me. I currently have Essie Plumberry on my toes so I wanted something that wouldnt clash. I ended up going for Bubble Bath. Well after 2 coats it was basically clear. So she added another coat of Hawaiin Orchard. Got a little better but still very very sheer. So instead of adding another layer of gel she said I could put a regular nail polish color over it. Kinda defeats the purpose but there was no way I was going to last 2 weeks with practically sheer nails. So she put a coat of some pink color (it wasn't essie or opi cant remember). And it looks good now. If I do it again I would def go for a darker color.

I think adding the polish OVER the gel polish is ok and will last.
Its the last part, the top coat that seals it all in.

Let me know how that holds up.
Thats my prob...the colors! Chat Icon

Yes I am. I went to Nail City on Gramatan Ave in Fleetwood. I also called a bunch of places near my office (Harrison) and couldn't find any.
