The soaking isn't too bad. By the time I need a new manicure, it's time for a pedicure, so they soak when I am getting the pedicure.

It cost $20 where I go.

I also pay $20, and choose any color I want from the shelves, not necessarily the gel colors.

Danielle, we might go to the same place--it's in the Gardiners Ave shopping center near the post office?

I think that might be King of Queens, or something like that.

I go to Fashion Nails which is on Wantagh Ave.

I went to fashion nails today! Omg! I am in love with my nails!

Micheal the owner was awesome...he explained the the whole process to me!

It was $20 for the opi gel mani and it looks awesome!

He told me more colors are coming next month and french!

But they have my fall stand by...lincoln park after dark!

I love Michael. I always go there for my pedicures. They are nice there and so fast.

good luck! let me know what color you get this time

I don't know what I want to do next...I really want french- but I might end up with the same color again if they don't have the french yet

Beth- I know we go to the same place in Wantagh. I am not crazy about the summer colors either. I went on Sunday and couldn't decide. The lady did two coats; the first one being #2 (moon something) and then another one being #1 (passion). I really like it. It almost looks like pink french. You can see the white of my nail. So far, it is my favorite.

Soaking was fine.
Honestly after I took pic and posted it here I picked at a nail or two that had some minor lifting and it peeled right off Chat Icon

You just soak for 10min and the stuff kind of peels off. Real easy.

I dont know about the french...its coming out next month and I dont know if my salon will have it. I may just due a pink or something like Beth did.

here is Big apple Red

Love the Big Apple Red on you.. I may get that color next time or that purpley color (I saw someone there with it on and looked awesome)... One week for me and no chips.. Only like a wearing away from typing on the ends.

Here is a picture of mine... I also just had the Forever French taken off and this really helped with my nails being a little stronger with all the damage acrylic does...

I love this.. Thanks girls for all the information about it.

I don't even know the name of the color that I have on.. but I think it was number 16.. and 17 is the purple one I want next.. It is a nice summer color..

Ok, so I wasnt really due for one today but I had red on and I wanted a light color for wedding Im in Sun.

My place dosent want to offer the $20...and they charge $35.

I went to Fashion Nails in wantagh...soaked, got them done and let me add, AWESOME!

The girl was Jennifer and she even did a good mani. I couldnt believe how packed it was too!

It's always packed in there. But they work fast so you never wait too long.

Re: Gel Manicure- Review (w/pic of nails) Updated with 2wks wear picture.

Ladies - is this completely different from the old gel manicures they used to do where they basically glue your name first and then after you soak/remove it, your nails are really soft?

So, only Opi has this product? Does it weaken your nails at all?

I would love to try it but I have pretty strong nails to begin with and don't want them weakened.

I just want polish that lasts and I wouldn't do it on a consistent basis. maybe 1x/month, let my nails breathe for 2 weeks and then polish again?

Would this work for me?

TIA!!

Completely different!

I dont think it has weakened my nails at all.

Here is a pic of what I just did on Fri.
It was Passion color, then Moon over Mumbai.
I wanted French for wedding and since its not out yet, they painted the white on with just nail polish at end and added a top coat. They told me if it chipped, reg nail polish remover would take it off anf I still would have my base color.
Well its Thurs and no white chipping either.

Are you sure you are asking for the right gel manicure?

I know there is another one out there that is completely different and that is the normal charge for them.

This one is made by OPI.
See a few pages back..I did post it.

The most I have seen here is $35.
So it should be no more than that.

Re: Gel Manicure- Review (w/pic of nails) Updated with 2wks wear picture.

Ok, I went back to my nail place today for a pedi/ Gel Mani.
Only because I had gotten a GC.

I choose Russian Navy, on my toes as well.

It took 4 coats on my nails to get to a dark tone. This is what I dont like about the gel. These colors are NOT exactly like the ones in a bottle.

My toes and hands do not match in color. The colors are not as rich.

I think this is it for me. I like the concept, the no chipping, 2wk wear but soaking is slightly annoying as well as the lack of colors, and time consuming.

For FALL- Im all bout dark colors!
Not cutting it for me.

Im back to mani's and chipping nails.
