Gel nails vs Acrylic
Which type of manicure is better overall? Which lasts the longest and holds up the best with hands in a lot of water (dishes, baths for kids)?
Both seem to require maintenance every 2 weeks.
Acrylic you need to get them filled in every two weeks.
Gel you need to soak them off and get a new color every 2 weeks.
Which has the quicker maintenance? (less time in the chair at the nail salon...I'm not looking to spend an hour or more there)
I used to get the "forever" french acrylic nails years ago, and I felt the were the most durable. I'm hesitant to go back to them because I don't want my nails to look fake.

Gel nails vs Acrylic
I do the Gel and love it, it lasts almost 3 weeks on me. the only downside is my nails have gotten weak so every so often I take a break and do a plain mani

I just did a powder manicure-my mom has had one on for 3 weeks with no chipping. I was in the chair for about 45 minutes, and they don't use a UV light. Additionally, they don't have to scrape it off like the gel when they remove it.

This is what I had done. I'll see how long it lasts, but I was super happy with the process

I have tried shellac and acrylic. I like powder acrylic the best. I don't use tips, so it looks natural. Shellac started looking crappy after a week for me, made my nails brittle and broke. They can do my nails in about 45 minutes.

I just got this done today. Went to get a regular gel and they told me about this powder gel so I figure I give it a try. The advertisement however says it last 2 weeks. If it actually does I will be surprised but only because no kind of manicure regular or gel last more than a week - a week and half.

yes they say its a quick soak. the brand the nail place I went to used SNS and they claim it helps strengthen your nails  we will see if that's true ... though I am not the best person on this because I never go to get them soaked off I just peel it off myself

I'm not sure how they can make them stronger since it is the same as an acrylic set.....I've had them apply the sets similar to this but the gel just wasn't colored.

Gel nails vs Acrylic
I have used SNS and gel and both have made my nails super weak. I am taking a break from them all and going with reg mani/pedi but a top coat that allows my polish to last longer.
