Getting DD to sleep in her bed

My DD will be 4 on Saturday. She does not sleep through the night. She wakes up multiple times a night crying and makes her way down to sleep with us.

She throws such a fit that if we bring her upstairs she eventually makes herself throw up.

I don't know what to do...I don't know why she won't sleep 8 hours or so straight. It's like internally she has to wake up after a few hours.

Any suggestions?

What worked best for us is if she woke up in our bed, she had to wear pants that day. If she woke up in her bed, she could wear a dress.

My friend discovered months after her 4 & 5 year old started sleeping in their own beds all night that her husband had bribed them. If they spent the night in their bed, they got a RING POP in the am.Chat Icon Chat Icon Eventually, they phased out the "treat" after they stopped waking up.

We have tried bribing. It doesn't phase her. She is so tough!

Re: Getting DD to sleep in her bed

The only time my DD was ever allowed to sleep in our room was when she was sick. And when she was sick we had her princess cot that we would set up next to our bed, but never allowed her to sleep IN our bed. I think doing that made it easier on all of us.
If she woke up in the middle of the night, just because she couldnt sleep, had to use the bathroom or what have you, we would allow her to spend a few minutes sitting with us and then would walk her back to her room and into her own bed.

You could try getting a little cot like we had and allow her to come into your room and sleep on that this way she isnt sleeping IN the bed with you. Might be easier to then get her to go back to her own bed.
