Re: getting onion smell out of the house
Can you boil a cut up lemon in water on your stove for a while?
Maybe that will work?

Re: getting onion smell out of the house
I don't know if it'll work after the fact but I was always told to light a candle while you're cutting the onions and that will cut the scent!!! Give it a try!!!

Re: getting onion smell out of the house
Washing your clothes and jacket in the washing machine and then hanging them dry should get the smell out of them.
As far as the house.......you can try simmering some detergent on the stove top for a few minutes.
Did you open up any windows and air it out? Mop the floor with a nice smelling cleanser? Countertops......etc.
In addition, try to take a few scented candles and light them for a few hours to let them seep up the air.

Re: getting onion smell out of the house
try lighting a match in the room where the smell is. This works especially well for bad bathroom smells
Also, could a small piece of onion have fallen like behind the stove or under the fridge, I would see if you can check, seems strange that the smell is so strong.

Re: getting onion smell out of the house
I know this is strange but put out a few bowls of white vinegar and leave them out withthe windows opened for a few hours - it should absorb the smell - we used to do it in a resturant I worked in in the morning to clear the smoke (in the 90's) and stale food and beer smell. It did not make the room smell like vinegar.
Add some baking soda to your wash - that should help too.

Re: getting onion smell out of the house
hi all, thank you again for all your advice.
the house does smell better. the vinegar makes it smell like soup! but that's better than gross onion smell! and burning a spiced pumpkin candle is helping too!
