Re: ghi iui/ivf ladies
my sister just paid oop for her drugs and it was about 6K. but you can't go by someone else's cause you might be on more or less of the drugs. My sister called around to get the cheapest price. It was a Pharmacy in the city but I will find out which one cause she called just about everyone in the 5 boros.
Her IVF appts and procedure etc was 6400. She went to Colombia and your initial cycle is cheaper then any future ones so elsewhere it is probably more.

Re: ghi iui/ivf ladies
i was told the same thing with GHI in regards to the IUI's. Howver, we were also told we would be able to go straight to IVF if we wanted and GHI would cover it (75% that is) since we had severe male infertility issues. We never got to the point of IUI or IVF but looked into the price for IVF and we were quoted in the range of 16k to 20k. So, the 25% would be anywhere from 4k to 5k. I am not certain if that was with or without meds.

Re: ghi iui/ivf ladies
We have MF issues, so were able to go straight to IVF. We also have GHI and they paid 75% --we paid $1250 for the actual IVF, plus $500 for the anesthesiologist (he wasn't covered). We were covered for most of the meds tho...

Re: ghi iui/ivf ladies
I have GHI and yes, we were told you have to do 12 IUIs before IVF. This was just a few months ago.. though not sure if it changed since then.
They are able to get rid of the 12IUI limit if you have male factor or some other issues that they consider automatic reason to jump straight to IVF. Another option is for the doctor to try and appeal it. This is what happened for me, because we thought I had a very strong case and that GHI would allow me to go forward with IVF if we fought it. Well... worked like a charm and that's how I was able to get started with my first cycle.
With IVF, they pay 75% of up to 3 cycles. One total cycle includes a fresh and frozen, from my understanding.
I paid $1250 for one cycle of IVF and $1000 extra for ICSI. It was also $500 for the anesthesia.
The fertility drugs for me are not covered under GHI, it's under my prescription plan. Some were covered... some weren't... I would say between everything, the meds were around $700, but that was just initially. After I got pregnant, I started needing refills of some drugs so it ends up being more and more...
I will say from someone who ended up happily on the other side of the rainbow, even just briefly, it's all totally worth it
Hope this helped!!

Re: ghi iui/ivf ladies
I also did not have to do all of the required IVF's...basically due to my age...they still made me do 2 IUI's. I know that the requirement is 6 IUI's for ladies I think 35 and older. FYI...the 25% co-pay is not 25% of the full out of pocket price. It is 25% of what GHI pays which is MUCH less. For instance, my center charges about 13,000 or so for IVF, but my GHI co-pay for IVF is only $1,200 and $500 for FET. As for teh price of meds, it depends completely on your protocol. If you are on a high stim protocol you can spend almost up to 8,000- 10,000 on meds. A lower stim protocol is much less.

Re: ghi iui/ivf ladies
I know that many people are able to appeal, but for someone with "unexplained" and no male factor, we had to pay completely out of pocket. We also pay for drugs. Since I am such a high responder, the amount of drugs I needed for IUI's were almost as much as IVF. My husband and I decided to jump ahead to IVF b/c each cycle of IUI was costing us quite a bit each month and after doing the math, 6 cycles would have almost cost us one IVF cycle. Good Luck!!!
