Girl, 5, killed when toy wagon rolls onto Montauk Hwy
A 5-year-old girl was killed Sunday when a wagon she was riding in rolled down her hilly driveway and out into Montauk Highway, where she was hit by a car, police said.
The identity of the girl has not been released.
East Hampton Town Police said the accident happened at 2:56 p.m. Sunday as the girl's father was preparing to take the girl and her sibling to the beach.
The father had just gone into the home, police said, when the girl hopped into a "Radio Flyer" wagon -- and it rolled down the steep driveway and out one Montauk Highway, where it was hit by a 2002 Saab being driven by Erika Halweil, 31, of Sag Harbor.
Halweil suffered minor injuries, police said, and was treated at Southampton Hospital.
The little girl was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

So sad I live in EH too and dont know who this little girl is yet- makes you realise how easy life can be taken from you. i feel bad for the driver too as there was nothing she could do. My heart breaks for this family

I can't wrap my mind around how tragic this is. I feel so much for the parents as well as the driver. There has been such tragedies lately with little ones involved. It breaks my heart
