Girls that had a c-section...

How long did it take for your incision to stop hurting? I has a section last Thursday and the pain comes and goes. It still burns a lot to sit down and get up and stairs are hard.

I know that it's major surgery and I'm probably expecting too much too soon, but I just want to start feeling like myself again Chat Icon

Well I had a fab C-sec experience. I DEF overdid it. I vacuumed 3 days after being home. Maybe should not have done that. But I would say by week 2 I was as close to "normal" I could be. It really varies, my GF took almost 2 months to feel 100%. Just try and rest and put your feet up. Plus I think your body is all out of wack with you PUPPS too. So Im sure it will take a bit longer. Just rest. Use people if they offer help. Take it.

With both of mine it took 2 weeks before I started to feel better. Then after that it just kept getting better. You may be itchy for a while after that as it is healing. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Jenn! Chat Icon

I've been trying to take it easy, but it's so hard! DH has been amazing, but I feel like he's doing too much - like I'm running him ragged. Chat Icon I have the type pf personality that I just can't relax, no matter what. I always feel like I should be doing something else.

Re: Girls that had a c-section...

If it is severe pain, call the doctor. I never had severe pain but the tenderness can last up to a year! I still get weird twinges where my incision is. I had a prior abdominal surgery and this happened with that also. My scars actually look great (for scars!), yet I get these twinges. Is twinge a word?

Re: Girls that had a c-section...

it sounds like what your experiencing is totally normal. i had a fabulous recovery and VERY quick mihgt i add. i felt 100% better at the 2 week mark and just about myself again. the biggest thing for me was that i get up and take a shower and have a little me time when i had an hour when dh was home!

i can tell you that now at 2 months pp... i really feel 100% myself again. some of my old clothes are starting to fit again. BUT heres the big but.... the area between my belly button and my incision is still "numb" like when you get novicaine and you can feel things but not really "feel" them. the OB said its totally normal and can take 6months to a year to get better and even still some women never get that "normal feeling" back. its due to them cutting the nerves!

try not to over do it or your recovery will be prolonged i know its hard but try and let dh do all the diaper changes (it worked great for us) so that i didnt have to do the up and down so much. and i like you expected too much too soon! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Same here. By week 2 i was feeling much better. The pain got worse when the staph got worse but once they cleared that up it felt better again. I hated that pulling/burning feeling!

Re: Girls that had a c-section...

I had my section on 9/6 & as of the last 2 days I am feeling back to my normal self. I did have days where I felt great & then the nighttime would come & I would be doubled over like the section was just done. I took the painkillers they gave me & put my feet up, by morning it would be gone. I asked my OB at the visit last week & she said that if I get that feeling, it means I have done too much. She also said to gauge your actions based on your bleeding. If you begin to bleed more & pass more clots, then you are doing way too much Chat Icon

Re: Girls that had a c-section...

My recovery was not bad at all. I'd say it was about a week before I wasn't feeling my incision anymore.

Then again, I'm just realizing that I had much worse pain to deal with with my back, so that may have had something to do with it. Chat Icon Hope you feel better soon!

Re: Girls that had a c-section...

For me, it took at least 4 weeks to feel somewhat more normal and for that incision/muscle pain to go away. But I am now 12 weeks pp and I still don't feel 100% like myself. I'm still a bit swollen there and like a pp said, there is still this weird numbness (although it is getting better).

C-section is major abdominal surgery. I know how badly you want to just feel better, but you have got to take it easy and give yourself time to heal.
