Girls vs boys sneakers
Silly question: is there any inherent fit difference between girls and boys sneakers? Dd needs all white sneakers for her uniform next year and there are more options in the boys dept. I just want to make sure they are not cut wider or has support in different places or anything, like the way there’s some subtle differences between some brands of men and women sneakers. She’s 5.5, wears an 11.

I'm pretty sure boys shoes are a little wider than girls shoes, but if they fit your daughter, then I don't see why it matters.

Re: Girls vs boys sneakers
Every brand, every style, every everything is different with each individual shoe. I still remember in HS, when I literally had every half size from 8 to 10, and they all fit perfectly..... (dress shoes, cleats, wrestling shoes, sneakers, boots, etc)
At 5 or 6, there really isn't any gender difference yet. As teenagers, there is, but I don't think you'll see any significant difference, other than style, between the boys and girls shoes.
Just try on any sneakers that look promising, and go from there. Don't worry about if they are boys are girls, just if they fit.

Re: Girls vs boys sneakers
I feel like at the age, only the colors differentiate the sex. Example, all white nike air max or the nike uptowns (not sure the official name) are unisex. They are also required to wear all white sneakers for gym at my sons school. Alot of the girls and boys wear the same shoes.
I hate the fact that they pick all white for kids, so dumb. I never buy my son all white shoes.

Re: Girls vs boys sneakers
Lol, I agree, why all white?! And she has to wear them everyday! She is completely flat footed and used to wear orthotics so I can’t get away with the flatish keds or converse-styled sneakers. She needs something with lots of cushions and supports and I finally found something on zappos that fits the bill but is boys but she also has the worlds narrowist foot (how is she my child?). I think I will order and see. Thanks!

She has a very narrow foot and needs a lot of support due to a history of need for orthotics so I just want to be sure it’s not like boy shoes are made with an extra wide heel cup or something random like that that I am clueless about.

Re: Girls vs boys sneakers
I also have small feet and been wearing kids shoes for years. There are some specific for boys or girls but alot are unisex. I wear boy shoes.
These are the ones I get my son.

My son has to wear it twice a week in the winter and they get so dirty so fast. In the spring its everyday... annoying. LOL
