Girls who went off bcp...this may be a stupid question

How did you know you were ovulating? Or not ovulating for girls that are having trouble? Is it because you got your period (or didnt) or because you used OPK's?
Can you even get a period when you dont ovulate?

Sorry if these are dumb questions but I really am clueless

If you were not ovulating you may get something that is period like, which may make you THINK that you got your period, but actually wasn't. This would happen because of a hormone level drop or the lining can't sustain itself.
I started getting a pain on the right side and when I asked my gyn about it she said it was most likely that I was feeling ovulation for the first time. That was about 3 months after I came off the pill
Not stupid questions at all, I thought that I had been ovulating all those years on the pill, I obviously didnt understand what the pill was for! haha

I have the same questions. I went off BCP 2 months ago, but we are not trying yet. I've gotten my period and had 28 day cycles for the last 2 months, but this doesn't necessarily mean I'm ovulating right?

i went off BCP and didnt get AF for 2 months. i went to the ob/gyn and she said to start temping to see if i am Oing. that first cycle i did O but not until CD32. still i thought it was just leftover hormones regulating from BCP. however my next cycle I temped and used OPKs. again about 2 months went by with no O, but i was getting positive OPKs. after awhile the OPKs always seemed to be positive with no temp rise - so i knew my hormones were out of whack cause my LH was high but there was no shift to indicate O. thats when i switched over to an RE from my ob/gyn because i already wasted 6 months with only 1 O cycle.

I by no means am an expert, but I came off, had 28 day cycles for March, April, May and June and then my cycles went to h e l l !! That was when my doctor told me I had probably started ovulating. Julys cycle was 43 days and now I am averaging 36days. the best way to keep track and figure out if you are ovulating is temping (as far as I have read).
A great book is Taking Charge of your fertility I learned a tremendous amount about my body that I had no idea about!
