girls with high FSH
My FSH came back as 13.6, which is high.
So those that have high FSH levels... what was your end result? meds? patches? how was it fixed? it can be fixed right?
this is all new to me so bear with me..
Also did you end up doing an IUI or IVF? or did you get happen to get pregnant naturally?

Re: girls with high FSH
i have very high fsh..20 something.
for me i have done both ivf and ius. i have gotten pg two times..both mcs but not due to fsh issues.
i need tons of meds personally. but alot will depend on how you respond . usually you start off lower and then tweak the protocol if needed.
i dont know if fsh can truly be fixed per say...but your treatment can work with what levels you have.
i hope some girls here can help you more! gl xo

Re: girls with high FSH
Hi,
My first suggestion would be to go to the following website and use the search feature generously. There is a wealth of information there.
http://www.network54.com/Forum/209394/
My second suggestion..get yourself to a doctor that is high FSH friendly. You will want a doctor that is familar with protocols and meds that are suitable for those of us with high FSH. You will find many suggestions for high fsh friendly doctors on the board I just gave you. As for whether high FSH can be lowered...yes...but many doctors believe that you are only as good as your highest FSH. That being said, many have been able to lower their FSH through acupuncture, wheatgrass and other supps. You will find many suggestions on the board I just gave you. Just know that FSH is notorious for fluctuating.
As for treatment, basically, a lot of clinics have FSH cut-offs such as 15 before they will work with you. Some will cycle you with a higher FSH but will attempt to lower your FSH before you cycle with some form of estrigen therapy. Lots of people get pregnant with high FSH. It is not necessarily an indicator of quality, but perhaps quanity of eggs left and whether or not you may respond well to stims. However, many of us with high FSH have good ovarian reserve and stim well.
BTW...just checking...you measured your FSH on CD3 right?

thanks i'll check out that board!
Yes i had bloodwork on cd3. I'm going to ask for repeat bloodwork to be done on the next cycle just to make sure. This past AF was rather light and odd compared to the normal AF (and finally came on cd54 mind you).
This may seem like a stupid question, but with my ds... we got pregnant on the 2nd cycle. Did we just get lucky?
We want 3 kids. We have 1. Does this mean we shouldn't wait long between 2 and 3 (if we get lucky and get pregnant with #2)? Starting to get nervous about it all...

Well..may I ask how old you are? I ask because if you are yiounger, you are in much better shape than us older girls with high FSH, but even so, truthfully, you need to get moving. I would also ask to have an AMH test done which tests your ovarian reserve and have an AFC or antral follicle count done so that you can get a better picture of what your ovarian reserve is. FSH is just one piece of the puzzle.
Also....high FSH does not mean that you can't get pregnant...I've been pregnant three times in the last year (chems/m/c) at 44 with an FSH of 18.2...it just means that you may be nearing the bottom of your ovarian reserve and or may not respond to stims well if you decide to do IUI or IVF's. Then again..like I said above...it may mean neither. My issue is moreso old eggs than anything...FSH is just another issue to deal with. There is a link on the site I gave you to a board called New Pregnant Despite High FSH. You will see the many ladies on there that have gotten pregnant. The problem is that many people with high FSH also have low antral follicle counts and do not produce many eggs and/or do not stim well. This is one reason why you need to get the ball rolling as soon as you are able to....you need to find out what impact your high FSH might have on your ability to conceive.
GL!!

Re: girls with high FSH
My FSH came back at 10.4 the first time tested at CD5. Dr.B said that was elevated but not bad. He also said it doesn't mean diminished reserve or bad egg quality. I got tested this month on CD3 and my number was 8.2. It is true you are only as good as your highest number so they will focus on the highest number you have had. I haven't researched more because I drive myself crazy. For now I am seeing an RE and praying that my current protocol works to get me my first pregnancy! I am 30 and have had 2 mc's. I would first visit an RE and see what they say. Good Luck

Great...at 30...age is on your side...but get going!! Just an FYI...if you do not go to a high FSH friendly doctor...you may be told that donor eggs are your likely option....do not get upset...this is par for the course. Just find another doctor!! The following site is a great one that explains almost everything fertility/IVF related. AMH is a blood test that can be done any day of your cycle and AFC is where they count the number of follicles on your ovaries at the start of your cycle. Here is a link that explains both:

Re: girls with high FSH
My fsh was 14.9 the month I did my IVF cycle. We had 8 eggs, 5 fertilized, transferred 2 on day 3 and the other 3 arrested before day 5. I have healthy 2 year old twins. I also got pregnant naturally a number of times but had early losses due to immune issues or ectopics...

Well i saw an RE last week. I go again tomorrow for a sono and some more bloodwork. He's going to repeat the blood panel next cycle as well. He didn't seem overly concerned about my FSH level so that was good i guess. Of course he might be depending on my number on the 2nd panel, but hopefully it's lower.
I guess one step at a time.

That's really good news. So many ladies have Dr.'s that freak out and give them misinformation. Good luck going forward!!
