I wanted to add though, I do think some sort of an extra health lesson should be taught for a day or 2 in HS on the subject.
I never had any idea that BFing reduces cancer risks.
Also, I think that if you are counting on WIC, you should also have to attend a BFing education class. I know TONS of people getting free formula who never considered bfing.
I am in agreement-all of this is fine by me.
There. We've parceled out the breastfeeding/formula feeding algorithm and the world can now be organized by our rules: Educate on and promote breastfeeding while not knocking those who cannot/do not. Gisele is not allowed to be our spokeperson though. And neither can annoyedTTC (but I suspect neither would want the job anyway).

I do not need anyone to tell me what to do with MY body... I do not enjoy BF, yeah I know breastmilk is good for my babies so that's why I am pumping and I hate pumping... a little off topic, why is it that once you give birth everyone thinks it is their business what I do with my boobies?

I am not bothering to read this article.
she may feel she is well intentioned, but unless she is willing to be someone's wet nurse, she should be vewwy vewwy quiet.

I think it should be a worldwide law that a-holes like her keep their mouths shut. When and where did she get her medical degree?
Last I checked this was a free country, no?

Yet another celeb that thinks she's invented parenting.
I personally would love to BF for that long but I am not a multimillionaire married to another multimillionaire that can pick and choose when she works.

Re: Gisele Bundchen says it should be a "worldwide law" that women MUST breastfeed their chlildren for 6 months.
Seriously will this woman ever shut up about pregnancy and parenting. I almost fell on the floor when she said child birth did not hurt. I have never heard any woman every claim that ever and it's just blatently not true.
Then she made that comment about how most woman gain so much weight because they put junk into them when they find out they are pregnant and they should not gain more then 30lbs. Okay so not everyone is genetically gifted to be 6 feet tall with an amazing body, trainers to get you back into shape and free time to work out. She should just be grateful with what she has.
And now this. Bridgette M. must be laughing her arse off that Tom picked this nim wit to marry.

So first we have a Playboy playmate dispensing questionable vaccination advice, and now a lingerie model creating laws?
Lovely.

what she said is silly.
but on a completely different note, I have a VERY hard time believing her kid is EBF. Is she really pumping bottles before the gym? before going out? Is she EBFing in public? I think we would have seen a pic. Her kid is getting this "american Chemical"
How is pumping and using a bottle not part of EBF?
While her wording sucks I agree that too many Americans turn to formula instead of breast feeding because they can't be bothered BF and that is just unfair to children.
I understand some people can't BF because milk doesn't come in or they are on meds, etc and I feel for them and their disappointment. But I don't understand women who never give it a chance and start on formula from day one.
One person said who is to say breastmilk is better than formula. Really? How about every health organization in the world! There is a reason formula can't advertise its self as better than mother's milk or as good as mother's milk
I really never get offended by what is said on these boards but are you KIDDING ME with your comment about "too many Americans turn to formula instead of breast feeding because they can't be bothered BF and that is just unfair to children". That comment is as bad as what Giselle said about giving our kids chemicals. We are not giving them chemicals and people who breastfeed are not better moms because they BF.
I didn't sit home with my twins not wanting to be bothered by them and sticking formula in their mouth. This is such a tremendously personal decision for every family and child, and you have no idea why the decision is made the way it is and for what reasons. So don't make ignorant comments about mothers who formula feed their children and why they choose to do so. By choosing to do so you are just as ignorant and self absorbed as Giselle.

It doesn't even warrant any other response that to say that is some of the dumbest $hit ever spoken from an airheads lips. I am all for BF'ing but a law????.............oh good god, what a complete idiot she sounds like.

Re: Gisele Bundchen says it should be a "worldwide law" that women MUST breastfeed their chlildren for 6 months.
I hate when anyone says that, celebrity or otherwise. I was open to do both but stopped after 3 weeks because it was stressful, painful, and most of all, I was hardly producing any milk. People give me this look all the time when I tell them I'm not BFing...and I really don't care. It wasn't for me, maybe it will work with my next baby, we will see. I don't uynderstand why people have to think they are all high and mighty and get into other people's business! Makes me so mad!

And how would they enforce this law? Send someone to my house to check my ta tas every day? Search my cabinets for cans of formula? Make me video tape myself breastfeeding my DD? Please. She really made herself sound super ignornant with that comment.

I hate her more than ever...
And this was the same person who said that she didn't gain much weight and never needed to wear maternity clothes.
Someday her looks will fade and nobody will want to look at her anymore...just wish that someday would be like tomorrow!!

No pain during childbirth.. COME ON!!! I had a labor where I didn't use pain meds and it freaking hurt! Did I enjoy it? Yup! But, pain free??? HECK NO!
And then the comments about not gaining weight that basically called most women fat pigs....loved that one..
And then never wearing maternity clothes???
AND NOW..
A breastfeeding law???? I LOVE bfing.. but, a freaking law???
I hate that woman. Maybe she is trying to make herself look so perfect so Tom won't leave her skinny butt like he did with his other baby momma!
