Giuliana Rancic on the view...
did anyone watch Giuliana and Bill Rancic on the view today! Apparently she is having Trouble in the TTC dept.
Well her dr rec among other things that to regulate her ovulation she should gain 5-10 lbs...and the interview was really uncomfortable bec she basically said she couldnt do the 10 and begrudgingly did the 5 and the whole view panel INCLUDING her husband couldnt believe that she was choosing 5 lbs over having a baby! She tried to blame her stylist and the type of business she is in and her body image as the reasoning...but come on if you having THIS MUCH trouble maybe you should re-look at your priorities! Barbara Walters and Whoopi were acting like a concerned moms..tellign her it's not like it is 30 lbs...its 10!!
Some ladies would gladly put on 5-10 lbs and she feels that is asking too much! A shame!

You know that tells me her figure is more important to her than having children is--which is fine, her deicison.
I just wonder how her marriage will fare, bc from what I have seen on the show Bill really wants to be a dad.

Re: Giuliana Rancic on the view...
And the worst part... she is too disgustingly thin now anyway. She would look better with 5 lbs on her. Does she realize that most men do NOT find the skin and bones look attractive?
This goes to prove that she does have some kind of eating disorder or body dysmorphic disorder.
If she was a healthy weight and looked good I can see not wanting to gain- but you look like DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Giuliana Rancic on the view...
I love the show and think they are so cute together but really 10 lbs. I cant believe she is being so annoying about 10 lbs. i feel like if she wanted a baby that bad she would gain 20 if the Dr said too! I think if she continues to have problems she will get her priorities straight and do whatever she has to regardless of how her stylist will feel! I dont think shes struggled long enough to get it! and its like seriously your trying to get pregnant, you will gain weight when that happens so whats the big deal!!

Re: Giuliana Rancic on the view...
i don't know, i am thin and i think i would be disappointed if i had to gain 10lbs to get pregnant...just because that is already +10 on top of what i would be gaining while i was actually pregnant...i'm just being honest!
but i'm not trying to have a baby yet - and i guess if i really wanted to start a family i would do whatever i had to do - even if that meant gaining unwanted weight...

Re: Giuliana Rancic on the view...
I have a friend who was told she cannot get pregnant unless she gains a little weight (about 10 pounds). She won't do it.
I think she does not want a child that badly- because if she did, she would gain that weight in a heartbeat. It is not that much weight to lose once you have a baby, and the payoff is worth it.
Maybe she just does not want a child that badly, but her DH does.

Re: Giuliana Rancic on the view...
I have to disagree with many of you. I am thin and don't have an eating disorder, however if I was told to gain 10lbs I would have a hard time dealing with that. My clothes wouldn't fit, and I wouldn't look the way I like to look. Now if it was baby or 10lbs I would do it but it would be VERY hard on me emotionally. For her to gain 10lbs is just as hard as someone trying to lose 10lbs and many of us know how hard it is to change your diet and essentially change how you look. To us it might seem like she has plenty of room for extra weight but it's her body and this is how she is most comfortable. It's easy for us to judge, however she is in the public eye...even if it is the "E" channel and "STYL", but she feels pressure to have a certain look. Many of us feel that pressure in different ways whether it's our weight, our hair, clothing, makeup, etc. and I just think she is being honest with how hard this is for her.

I don't know - I'm not a Dr. but if my body won't allow me to get pregnant because I need to gain 10 lbs - I'm OBVIOUSLY unhealthy at my current weight - I don't care how good she thinks she looks - she has a severly warped body image if she's SO thn that she can't get PG. - She is TOO thin. Her body is telling her she's too thin - not society, not judgemental people - her own body isn't working.
(IF being thin is her only issue, which it may not be -)

I agree with this- I am thin too. Have been all my life. Actually struggled with it at times. When I was TOO thin though- I knew it. I tried to gain weight because A - it wasn't healthy B- it looked horrible on me
I wasn't getting periods- when I did get them they were irregular etc.
When it came time to get pregnant I was still thin- wore a size 4 at 5 foot 9. And I was able to get pregnant right away. Obviously there is a difference between being thin and being so grossly underweight your body stops working properly. If she looked good at her current weight I could understand it. She looks like a booble head though!

Re: Giuliana Rancic on the view...
I get that it $ucks to gain weight, even if she's way under weight, as it is. And yes, her clothes won't fit and maybe she won't feel as 'sexy' and her stylist will throw a fit. I get it.
BUT...she is trying to get PREGNANT. And if she's LUCKY enough to get pregnant, she's going to gain weight! And her clothes WON'T fit! She does realize that gaining weight is part of the whole 'having a baby' process, right?
She's crazy enough to get pregnant and then try NOT to gain more than 10lbs during her whole pregnancy, so she doesn't look fat.
She's got her priorities screwed up. I really don't see what he sees in her. If she's putting her wardrobe before the chance at having a baby...well, maybe she needs to think if have a baby is what she really wants.

I am very thin, underweight my whole life. I got pregnant with out any problems. If her doctor is telling her she needs to put on weight then she is unhealthy and needs to do what the doc says. She is not naturally a thin person, and for her to be upset about 10 LBS, maybe she should not get pregnant. She will probably be so unhappy growing bigger and bigger every day,and inevitably putting on the LBS.

I agree too. I think if she were just being selfish she wouldn't admit that she didn't want to gain the weight.
If she won't gain 10lbs before getting PG, she must bt TERRIFIED of what she will gain and look like when she is actually pregnant.

I am aware that her chances of getting preggo will increase if she increases weight, and that's why she says she gained 5lbs and is aware she needs 5 more. However what I am saying is that because she is struggling with gaining the weight doesn't mean she has an eating disorder. I just don't think people are empathizing with how important self image is and how hard this could be on someone. Dealing with pregnancy weight is a different issue in which many people fear and eventually overcome.

Exactly! She is saying how much she wants to get pregnant & she seems to realize her thinness is playing a role in preventing that... yet she won't gain the weight to help the situation... so something is off here.

Re: Giuliana Rancic on the view...
Talk to someone who spent most of their adult life morbidly obese, has weight-loss surgery, drops 115 pounds and then gets PG and watches her waistline get huge all over again - hmm wait. That was me.
A poor body image really screws with someone's head - thin or fat. I was in the midst of my own IF issues when I decided to join a gym to make my body healthier in order to have a baby - it also cleared my head. I had already lost the weight from surgery years before. I was slim but by no means skinny.
I distinctly remember a woman in the gym locker room looking at me and commenting on my physique saying something to the effect of "I would love a body like that but I gained 80 pounds when I had kids." I'm pretty sure I told her the grass was greener on the other side" and said to myself that Id put back 80 of the 115 I lost if it meant I could have a baby.
She has an obvious body image issue confirmed by the unwillingness to put back 10 pounds. It is not uncommon for women who are too thin or too heavy to have issues with ovulation and fertility. I used to frequent gastric bypass support groups in the year or two after my surgery. The doctor ALWAYS told us to double up on birth control because once the weight started to come off, our cycles (mine was fine) would regulate and we would be VERY fertile. It was simply not good for a recent post-op to get PG too quickly.
