I bet a lot of women suffering from infertility would be happy to put on 10 lbs. It's a lot easier than other treatment options.

It was a really awkward interview. She obviously has a problem because on previous episodes of the show she tried the Master Cleanse to "gain energy" and go to a detox spa with only liquids to lose weight. Obviously, she has major issues. She even said that she isn't ovulating. You could tell that Bill was annoyed with her over it.

She doesn't always get her period..I just watched E! and they showed a clip...
She said "in order for her to ovulate regularly she needs to gain 10 lbs"
Now if you are too thin to ovulate--that cannot be good

and what if she finally gets pregnant? Will she be stressing the fact that she is gaining weight or trying to control it which may in fact affect her pregnancy? whether underweight or overweight, you should follow the doctors orders....

This was my initial thought. If you can't bear to gain 10lbs to increase your fertility how are you going to deal with gaining 20+?

ITA. And also on the last episode of her show I saw she was taking fertility meds to do IUI. Some fertility meds also make you gain weight. If I were her I would rather gain the 10lbs on my own then try fertility meds as a last resort.
If she's so underweight that she can't ovulate there is obviously a problem with her weight. Her body is telling she needs to gain weight.

I agree...I think it goes deeper then she cares about her job/body more then wanting a baby
I saw her cry on her show over this- I commend her for sharing- but I think she needs help for her eating issues

She DID say on the show she is really self conscious...plus all the other facts (not ovulating, can't get pregnant, her Dr telling her she has to gain weight)...all arrows point to EATING DISORDER.
Hopefully she works on that first and her self image before having a child, otherwise it could even be more stressful!

She is skeletal. . .she obviously has issues and can't see that she can really afford to add 10lbs. to her frame. So what she MAY big may have to buy new clothes. Instead of a zero she may be a 2 big deal

i think sheri brought it up today on the view and whoopi pretty much cut her off and and said something to the same effect, and its better to gain 10 lbs before having to go through all the fertlity meds and such, you can definintely tell how she feels about it, good for her

b/c a well woman who really wanted to get pregnant would willingly gain the 10 lbs - ..........
I disagree -- she's not that skinny --- so I think 10 lbs would affect the way she would look in the skin tight dresses the show puts her in. I also doubt that her weight is the only thing standing in the way of her being pregnant --- Nicole Ritchie was superskinny and still managed to get pregnant. I'm sure that she knows what is impeding her pregnancy and probably knows that weight gain won't necessarily help the situation.
I like her and I think she's doing her best to balance work and family ---- no easy feat for anyone nowadays

If being skinny is the only thing she's got because she has no talent then she needs to take a look at what her goal is in life.
Being married to Bill Rancic is not a career.
And besides, she could gain the 10lbs, have a kid and go back to being skinny.
The girl needs to address her issues even before having a kid.
This gets me so angry..can you tell?

she really is too skinny and i think she needs to realize that if she wants a child then she must gain weight. she can afford to gain much more than 10 lbs. i worry if she gets pregnant that she wont gain much weight which could harm the baby. i feel bad for her. i really do like her as a person. she just has major eating problems.

ITA-and NFN she looks disgusting! My husband would be on my azz if I wasn't ovulating because I was so skinny AND we were trying to have a baby! I just don't get it

the doctors are telling her to gain weight not just because she is skeletal and they think she could stand to gain a few--they are telling her to gain weight so she can get pregnant with the baby she wants. there's a big difference. if she's not willing to gain a few pounds to make her body ovulate in order to get pregnant, she is clearly not ready for a baby. women who are dying to get pregnant do some crazy things to improve their fertility. most are willing to try anything. gaining a few pounds would be the last thing they would worry about.
she could easily gain a few pounds and still fit in clothes. yeah, it may be a size larger, but who cares if what you truly want is a baby. god help her when she sees the numbers on the scale if she actually ever gets pregnant.
it's all about your priorities.
