Giving the MMR when your child is older Q's

Okay so I have to do it - I am dreading it but I have not choice as DD is going to preschool in september. I have to give her the MMR sometime in the next week or so. She is 3.

For those of you who gave the vaccine to an older child how did it go down? Did they freak out when they say the needle? Any after effects?

I know lots of you have given the MMR to younger kids with no consequences and will think I am a nut job for being so worried I honestly am. I keep going to pick up the phone to make the appointment and keep putting it back downChat Icon

DD normally hates the doctor anyway so I can only imagine the scene when she gets the shot.

HELP!

Andrew was 2 1/2 when he had it done and was fine. He cried a little after but that was it that day. He did get a bad reaction from it and of course I felt guilty forever but he was going into preschool and I had to get it done.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thank you for replying - I knew I wasn't the only mom out there who had delayed the MMR. What sort of reaction did andrew get if you dont mind my asking - I just want to be prepared. I will be like you - beating myself up if she has a reaction to it but I have to give it to her.

Emma had her 1st MMR at 4 and Jeremy at 3, Lukie 2 hasn't gotten it yet. Emma doesnt like needles so regardless of what it was she was going to freak out. Jeremy would let you stab him repeatedly so he would ask for more, literally. Neither of those 2 had a reaction to the MMR or any other shot for that matter.
