Giving up the bottle questions
Couple of questions for the parents of DC that no longer use a bottle
Do they drink milk from the sippy cup?
Do they drink it from the cup when they first get up in the morning - like they did when they were drinking from the bottle? What about at night?
Are they drinking milk from the cup other times during the day?
How much milk do you think they are drinking through-out the day?
Thanks - sorry for all of the questions - but I, again, am trying to get DD to stop drinking from the bottle

Re: Giving up the bottle questions
DD gets a cup of milk with her 3 meals....she probably only drinks 4 oz of milk with each meal. She gets water or water/jucie throughout the day if she is thirsty.
I just quit cold turkey one day. The doctor said to start her on whole milk at her 1 year appointment...I gave her milk that afternoon with lunch in a sippy. At dinner...same thing. She never batted an eyelash or looked for her bottle.
She used to get a bottle before bed..but the day we started milk, I stopped that too. She went to bed regular time and has never put up a fuss.
However...she will only drink (any liquid) out of a sippy with a straw...she doesn't understand the concept of a regular sippy where she has to tilt her head back.

Re: Giving up the bottle questions
I slowly replaced each bottle w/a sippy w/real milk and he took to it OK - a few days of what the heck is this and me giving bottles bc he wasn't drinking enough, but now he does really well. Daycare told me he drank almost all of his 3PM sippy (which used to be a bottle). He hasn't done that at home yet. If that continues, he probably drinks 16+ oz/day. Still on nighttime bottle, can't help you there. Not rushing to take it away since he downs 4-6 oz then and I think he needs it at this point.

Re: Giving up the bottle questions
DS just started taking only the sippy cup in the last few weeks and started milk in the sippy cup last night. He drinks milk with his breakfast and before doing to bed in the up. DS is probably drinking anywhere from 12 - 18 ozs of milk a day.

Same here.
He definitely drank far less milk once I got rid of the bottle, but I waited a while (about 20 months) because I knew that would be the case.

See that is the thing with me - over the weekend she went from drinking an 8oz bottle in the morning and an 8oz bottle at night - to know 12 in the morning and 12 at night.
But this morning when she got up, I gave her the sippy cup with about 7oz of milk and she drank most of it

Re: Giving up the bottle questions
Marcie....does she eat well? I was not worried about DD getting less milk than she did formula, because she eats plenty of cheese, yogurt, etc.
