Godparent question...
Is it weird to have two sets of godparents for one child, or no?

Re: Godparent question...
Just be aware that only one set will be listed on the certificates and in the books if you are having a Catholic Christening.

That's correct. The catholic church only recognizes 1 set. Just like when I was married I had a MOH and a Matron of honor, but only my matron of honor was recognized as a witness.

I would guess that maybe the parents have relatives they want to choose and may the wife's sister and the husband's brother are each married and so they ask both couples to be godparents.
A child can use as many positive figures in his/her life as possible.

Re: Godparent question...
imo, i thnk it's too confusing, i'd just go with 1 set of godparents and give the other people a special title in the baby's life.

Re: Godparent question...
My nephew has 2 godfathers, his 2 uncles. He didn't get baptized in a Catholic Church , so I don't know if they would have allowed that, but that is who his parents wanted.

I agree. Maybe save the second couple for the next child.

Re: Godparent question...
I'm Episcopal, so we may do things differently. I have 2 godmothers and 1 godfather and there was/is no confusion. (None of these godparents are married to each other) It was great growing up having 3 different people spoiling me rotten.
Go with your gut and what you feel is right for your child.
