I actually just got home from camping for the first time, and something I found very helpful was having big rubbermade bins. We used them to pack up and hold all of our utensils, garbage bags, cups, plates, and pretty much anything we could fit into thm. It was so easy to just throw everything in 2 bins and put it in the trunk.
oh...and LOTS of layers!

An easy fire starter trick.... rub cotton balls in a jar of vaseline, coating them liberally. Put cotton balls in old pill bottle to travel. When ready to light a fire, spread one cotton ball out to a thin layer and ignite. *Wait for vaseline to burn if cooking food over flame.
Glow sticks at dusk for the kids.... makes it super easy to keep track of them.
Head lanterns/lights to make it easy to cook and prepare with little light.
