going home outfits- what size?

I got newborn. From what I'm learing from asking around, it really depends on the baby's shape as well as weigh. Carters is cut smaller where Little Me is cut bigger. I just washed mine and it's Little M and looks huge. Like the pants will be really baggy but I guess that's normal with their skinny little legs.
Based on how they are growing, I gague mine to be approx 5-13 and 6-2 at 36 weeks (If I can make it) so they might be in premie. If newborn is huge I will have my mom run out and get premie stuff while I'm in the hospital. A lot of people just roll the newborn sleeves because they grow out of premie and newborn so quickly.

Ladies, Please don't buy too much. I know it's so fun but I assure you they grow so quickly. My guys were both 7lb babies. 7 12oz & 7 4oz. They wore newborn/0-3 for 2 or 3 weeks. Don't take tags off too quickly & save receipts.

Oh wow! God Bless You!! Over 7 lb each!! Your poor uterus. Lol. Those are great weights though!
I know I won't make it too far (36 w if I'm very lucky). I have only about 8 nb outfits then some nb gowns.

Ours came home in premie and they were huge on them. We picked them out way after they were born and still in the hospital.
Also they did a growth sono in the delivery room, before things got crazy and said both babies were 4 lbs. they measured in at 3lb8oz and 2lb 7 oz.
I would start with NB and go from there

Wow!! Great weights!! How many weeks were you? Don't worry, I haven't bought a thing, was just planning on buying these outfits for now. Thanks for the advice.

get nb- its really scary dressing them the first time- if you get preemie size, it just fits them, so it is more difficult to dress them.get nb size, just make sure you bring a onesie for underneath, the outfit, a blanket, hat, little mittens and socks/booties. you can buy a couple preemie things for later when you are more comfortalbe dressing them

my kids were 4-11 and 5-12 and the preemie outfit i had was big on them! (it was first impressions brand from macys)
I had bought NB and preemie and left the tags on and had my mom wash thema fter they were born and we knew the size we would need.
my older son was 6-8 and lost weight in the nicu and came home close to 6lbs and i had to get him a preemie outfit too b/c the newborn one i had was HUGE on him.

My twins were on the big side for twins (6 lbs 8 oz and 7lbs 5 oz), and the NB Carter's outfits they wore home were pretty big on them. I think that's part of the cuteness of that going home moment -- they will only be that tiny for such a short time! I still have those outfits in their onesie drawer -- I love pulling them out from time to time and remembering how tiny they were!

I agree...
DSs wore a three piece outfit from Carter's (short sleeve onesie, light weight jacket and pants), socks, hat, and crocheted blanket.

keep the tags on and receipts for sure!!
my girls were in the NICU so i was able to go to the store and buy newborn and just some preemie outfits.
they came home in newborn. 2 weeks later (girls are 5 weeks) newborn is still big on them

I bought newborn.
They came home weighing around 4lbs 5 oz so I needed to get premie outfits. I quickly brought cute little sleep n plays with fold over sleeves and a hat from target. They grew out of the premie stuff fast though. '
I only bought a few premie things and once home they mostly wore big newborn stuff.
