Re: how do you pick the size for comming home outfit
Well i wanted something with his name embroidered on it so i started looking sooner. And because i wanted him to be able to wear it more then once or twice i got 0-3 rather then newborn. I bought it from Lands End...i love it!

Unless you have a bigger baby, 8pds or above, 0-3 will be swimming on them. I brought that size for my DD and it was hilarious. It looked so tiny too. She was 6pds 10 oz, 19 inches long and needed preemie clothes for the first week. I would stick to newborn unless you know you are having a large baby.

Re: how do you pick the size for comming home outfit
If I had picked early, I would've gone with a 0-3 month outfit. We have big babies in my family and newborn doesn't normally fit. I figure, it's best for them to be in a bit big of an outfit than too small.
I brought 3 different sizes with me to the hospital because doctors said he'd be big. So I thought 0-3 might be too small. Well, he came home in 6-9 month clothes. He was quite big.

My DD was 8lbs 1oz and she wore NB to come home. She had plenty of room in it and even wore it a few more times in the following months.

Re: how do you pick the size for comming home outfit
even though they were measuring DS at significantly larger than 8 pounds, he was born at barely 7pounds and the NB outfit was swimming on him.
i would get NB and have a backup 0-3 if they're telling you your baby is way over 8 pounds.
DS is currently 14 pounds 14 ounces and STILL fits in the NB outfit that i take his monthly pictures in...although it's hard to get over his big head!

DS was exactly the same weight and needed preemie clothes for almost a month. All of the 0-3s were in his closet until he was about 3 months old.
This time I will wait for my growth sono & try to guess better from that

Re: how do you pick the size for comming home outfit
I would bring a NB size, but also a 0-3 month size as a back up. I needed to use the 0-3 month size, the NB was too short for DD who was over 21 1/2 inches long and 9lbs, 9 oz. Soo happy that I brought both sizes :)

I bought the 0-3 months, the babies in my family tend to be bigger. My sister told me her 3rd baby, who was 10.5 lbs, came home in 6 month clothes

Re: how do you pick the size for comming home outfit
I had 0-3 since DD was bigger (9 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches) and it was HUGE on her I should have gone with NB. Honestly if you can could you have one NB and one 0-3 and then you are covered either way - that is what I will do this time.
