Going rates for babysitters
Our neighbor is watching our DS tonight. In the past she has said she does not want to be paid to watch him so we haven't paid her. I've given her g/c to fav rest and all to compensate. So now that I'm asking her 2 nights in a row to watch him I just want to know what the going rate is ? I need to start paying her....Thanks!

Oh man have I been over-paying  My sitter charges $15/hr. I feel like I go broke when I go out for dinner on a saturday night bc I end up paying her so much

We have two DSs and pay $13 an hour. She went up from $10 after we had our second.

Wow so if you want to go to dinner and a movie..thats about 4 hours min. it would cost $60 just for sitter!!!! Thats why we rarely go out!

At the very least $10/hr.
Luckily I have only had to use a sitter twice.... and both times used a friend who didnt want to be paid...but when she finally took my money, she accepted $10/hr.
She usually charges $12/hr (and then $1 extra/each child) but gave me a little "break"

She worked at Mark and Julie's (the ice cream parlor in WO). A friend got to know her and asked if she sits. We were looking for a sitter so they gave us her number, she was their backup sitter. She has been watching Jeremy, and now Dylan too, for a little over 2 years.
