Going to be a BM in my friends wedding 2 months after I give birth....WWYD?
I am due 4/3 and the wedding is June 18th. She is looking at BM dresses and we should be ordering them in a few weeks. By then I will be about 13 weeks or more. I am not sure what size to get. I want to order bigger than my normal size, but how much? I am a size 12 or 14 now, usually dresses i get bigger bc of the boobies!
And it's a BM dress...which are usually small. How big do you think I should order? I don't know how much I will gain and how much I will lose in the first 2 months after birth. Also, my boobs will probably be even bigger!
What do you guys think?? WWYD?
TIA!

I would prob order an 18 - you can always get it taken in - i'd rather get too big than too small - you're kind of screwed if it's too small!

Re: Going to be a BM in my friends wedding 2 months after I give birth....WWYD?
I am scheduled for a repeat c/s 9/30 and I am in a wedding on 10/18. The bride told me not to order anything until after I deliver and to just go to David's Bridal and get something off the rack. I will say for DS we were guests at a wedding about 2 months after he was born and while I had lost all of the weight I had gained for him, I was still a size bigger and shaped completely differently than I was pre-pregnancy.

so you think one size bigger is okay? Depending on the dress I will either order an 18 or 20 I guess. I mean, I know they can take it in..
But I am only 5 feet tall, so if it didn't fit, I'm sure they could use the extra fabric to let it out too.
I'll just have to hit the gym bigtime after the baby is born!

Re: Going to be a BM in my friends wedding 2 months after I give birth....WWYD?
This what my exact scenario...I was due 4/21 (had DS 4/13) and was in my BFF wedding 6/24. We went to Burton's and I tired the sample on. Ironically I was able to fit in it until I got to my chest. The sample dress was a 12. They took my measurements and then I ordered 2 sizes bigger than the largest part of me (my chest). I did need to take it in a bit but I rather have had that happen than be stuck with a dress I couldn't fit into.

I wouldn't count on going to the gym...If you end up with a c-section you generally can't go back I think for 6 weeks. I had 2 vaginally deliveries but both with episiotomies (my first one being worse) and I had a hard time getting up and down from the couch for a good 3 weeks.
You best bet again is just have them measure you and then go up 2 sizes.

they tend to order your dress according to your largest measurement. So first I'd ask them (since they are the pros) what they suggest. My top is a 14 but my hips are a 16. For BM dresses I usually get a 18-20. For my wedding dress i had a 20-22. In your case I probably wouldn't go bigger than a size 18, but again - ask the pros first.

Re: Going to be a BM in my friends wedding 2 months after I give birth....WWYD?
I'm in my best friends wedding a month after baby is due. I ordered a size 12, normally I get 8s in bridesmaids dresses b/c they always tend to run smaller (sometimes not the case as well!) I got the dress the other day and I currently as a preggo & 19 lbs heavier then my normal weight fit perfectly into the dress (for now, ask me in 2 months..I probably won't get the damn thing zippered) but I figured I was safe with 2 dress sizes up. Rather bigger then to small!
ETA: Since I was ordering my own size and not what they suggested I had to pay like $20 dollars more...I don't know if that's a custom at salons but it was at the one we ordered at, which pi s sed me off, just a heads up.

THanks girls. I think I will go 2 sizes up! I am mostly worried about the chest! LOL. My bras are already getting tight.
I already figured I'd have to pay extra to get a bigger size, I know they tend to charge for everything they can! Luckily I have a wonderful seamstress who is amazing, can get it done in a few days and is CHEAP!

Re: Going to be a BM in my friends wedding 2 months after I give birth....WWYD?
I was in my sister's wedding at 7 wks PP. My dress was 2 sizes up and that seemed to work well.
I also wanted to warn you that if you're planning to BF, you're breasts could be huge still at that point. I was so enormous. Luckily the way the dress was, it was fine.
But it sounds like you'll be fine since you'll have the extra material from the bottom of the dress that you can use.

Re: Going to be a BM in my friends wedding 2 months after I give birth....WWYD?
one of my BM's had a baby about 10 weeks before my wedding. She normally wears a size 4 and ordered a 6. The dresses actually ran true to size an needless to say, the dress was too tight in her chest. They had to take the entire dress apart and sew it back up. It all worked out in the end, but I think ordering 2 sizes up would have been better.

I think 2 sizes up is good, but the biggest thing to consider the shape of the dress. If it's an a-line or empire waist you can get away with more since it's more flattering. If it's more form fitting I would be anxious and ask to get a more figure flattering cut. Even if you lose all the weight your body will be shaped different and more then likely you will still have some belly, and those boobies will be FULL! An empire halter may be a good bet
