Going to Fire Island for a day
We have never been to Fire island and thinking of going this friday. We have a 4 year old and a nearly one year old.
Where should we go? what should we do? any recommendations for a nice place for lunch?
Any tips for travelling with two kids and not having a car ( the thought of not having the car terrifies me but I guess I will have to learn to travel light)
TIA

Re: Going to Fire Island for a day
Do you have a wagon? I'd bring one It can tote your stuff and your kids!
Are you going to Ocean Beach? There is a restaurant on your left called Rachels--it's known for their bakery but they offer a great lunch or dinner too.
You can't eat on the beach in Ocean Beach, keep that in mind. (There is a part of the beach if you walk all the way to the right, once you get off the ferry and down to the beach that you can eat, there is literally a dividing line down the beach. However keep in mind, it's party central then I know when we had our share 2 summers in a row, that's the beach we went to so we could drink, play music, eat!)

Davis Park is very family oriented. You can buy lunch there and eat it wherever you want. I'd definitely bring a wagon or a wponder wheeler.

Re: Going to Fire Island for a day
thanks - can you walk from davis to ocean beach or do you have to pick the place you intend to stay at from the start and stick with that?
I was thinking of taking the jogging stroller as it should get on the beach okay - do you think? we dont have a wagon.
