Day trip to Fire island? Where to go?
I want to take my inlaws to fire island, they are not from around here. Ava will be 6 months when then come down. What is a good town to take her there? I want something with a bit of shops and places to eat and walk around.

I keep hearing about ocean beaches and it sounds like EXACTLY what you are looking for. Ive never been. Try googling it or maybe someone on here has more info.

Be aware that Cherry Grove as well as the Pines is a gay community. Not that it matters to me, but just in case it would make your in-laws uncomfortable.

Ocean Beach!! Very family friendly, lots of places to eat and they have little shops.

: Cherry Grove is a bit more family friendly out of the 2 though. CG is mostly lesbian & Pines gay men  I'd probably go OB with the inlaws but I've taken DD to CG and had a great time!

You should also be aware that the ferry to Ocean Beach goes from Bay Shore and the ferry to the Pines and Cherry Grove goes from Sayville.
