We had my sister's 50th bday party at Shandon Court in East Islip. We opted for a pretty expensive cocktail package... but I remember noting that the shower packages were VERY reasonable. The food was really decent and the rooms were lovely.
Good Luck
I would definitely look into Shandon Court as well. We've had a few functions there and they are great to work with. It is convenient to both Sunrise Hway and the Southern State, if you have guest traveling from Nassau.

Check out Ruvo in Greenlawn for the "luncheon". Online it states $23 per person. They have a private room, it's a beautiful restaurant and their food is excellent.
I'd call places like: 34 New Street in Huntington Village (with parking across the street) 105 Harbor in Cold Spring Harbor Around the same price as the Melting Pot, but the location is beautiful and the food is top notch. Very friendly staff and they're negotiable. Mim's in Syosset - according to their website, they start at $27 pp.
I second Ruvo & Mims, been to both for events -- reasonably priced and good food
