Good Samaritan Hospital
Anyone have delivery experience here or have already taken the tour that can answer some questions?
1. Did you like your stay there? 2. How were the visiting hours? 3. When was the baby in the room with you? At night?
Just trying to get some info because I am still having trouble deciding between southside and good samaritan. Any input would be great. Thanks!

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
1. Yes, i had a very good experience there, from start to finish. The nurses were very helpful. 2. Fine- dont remember the exact times, but no one had a problem coming to visit. 3. The baby was with me all day, and went to the nursery around 9 or 10? then came to me when he needed to be fed. However, i will be delivering at southside with this one. I am goign on the tour there tomorrow at 9am. I've heard great things so far and the southbay practice is now delivering at southside.

Are they? When I was there a few weeks ago, they told me that they only deliver there for scheduled C-Sections b/c they prefer Good Sam's NICU and facilities. They were trying to dissuade me from even thinking about Southside, even though I have heard that they just redid their maternity ward and that it looked very nice. To that, they said that it does look very nice on the surface.... and left it at that. That scared me enough, so I am going to go with Good Sam even if I need the scheduled C.

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
Delivered there 3 times. Loved it. The first two times my babies were in the NICU and i could go see the baby whenever i wanted to. They were very compassionate and caring. Visiting hours at that time were very short like 1 1/2 hours in the morning and 1 1/2 hours at nite. The last time i was there when DD was born she was able to be in the room with me. She was with me all day which i loved till about 9 pm.. Whenever she needed to be fed at night, they brought her to me. If you are too tired though, you can tell them that you dont want the baby brought to you that night because you need your sleep and they'll feed your baby themselves. I never opted for that my roomate did however. Visitng was much better this last time. Visiting is now from 11 am- 7 pm as far as a i remember and visitors are now allowed in the room wthen the baby is in the room. When my other two children were born no visitors were allowed on the floor while the babies were out of the nursery.
Edited for clarification

I usually don't post this, but as a L&D nurse @ SSH, i had to respond.. Southbay OB/GYN can say whatever they want about SSH, the scam they pulled about becoming exclusive w/ SSH just so they would get a better deal with Good Sam.. I have delivered quite a few patients with them, and can honestly say let Good Sam have them! One Dr. in particular lied to a pt. who was brought in by ambulance for a vaginal delivery-- telling the poor girl she couldn't have an epidural b/c anesthesia wasn't in house!! Meanwhile the CRNA was right outside the door!! SSH has a beautiful delivery unit, as well as very experienced, competent staff who will bend over backwards for a pt. and their well being! This group scaring their pts. about SSH is ridiculous, and i feel bad for you.. I meant no personal offensive to the posters, i just felt the need to set the record straight.. Southbay doesn't particularly love the unit, because they can't walk all over us! Again, nothing against their patients.

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
I will be delivering my twins at Good Sam mainly b/c of the NICU unit. My sisters have delivered at both hospitals and had great experiences at both.

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
I delivered at Good Sam and Southside...Southside being most recent almost 2 years ago...I will be delivering #3 at Southside and I couldn't be happier. The staff was amazing!! The rooms were clean and the birthing room was new and comfortable. I couldn't have been more happy. Im not even sure if my doctor delivers at Good Sam anymore but if he gave me the choice I would pic Southside hands down!!!!
