Good Samaritan Hospital
Anyone have delivery experience here or have already taken the tour that can answer some questions?
1. Did you like your stay there? 2. How were the visiting hours? 3. When was the baby in the room with you? At night?
Just trying to get some info because I am still having trouble deciding between southside and good samaritan. Thanks!

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
I know this wasn't your questions but I delivered both my DC at Southside and had great experiences both times. Visiting hours were 12-8 and you could have the baby with you all day. They let the fathers there from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. As for nighttime, they brought the baby in for feedings if you wanted them too.

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
I had both my DC at Good Sam and I loved everything about it. The nurses were great, everything was clean and anytime I had a question there was someone there instantly to help me. You do have the option to have the baby in the room all day and night. I chose to put the babies back into the nursery during visiting hours and thru the night. The visiting hours were 11-1 and then 6-8 if I am not mistaking. Siblings had different hours, DH's could stay all day and grandparents were able to come right up to the room once I was placed in a room after L&D.

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
My opinion, go for Southside!! I delived at Good Sam and have since switched doctors so that I never have to go back there. My delivery experience was great, but once I had the baby and got moved to the maternity floor it was awful. Mostly because of my roommate, she was crazy. But, the care I got wasn't the best either. The nurses did not respond when I buzzed, they let my roommates husband stay way past visiting hours (until 1-2 am!) and he was very loud and disruptive so I got no sleep. Also, for two days no one checked my uterus to make sure it was shrinking back down, they never gave me a spray I was supposed to have to put on my episiotomy stitches until I was leaving and they never checked my incision until the morning I was discharged. I do know many people who had great experiences there, but I was not one of them. Next time around I will be delivering at Southside!
1. Did you like your stay there? No
2. How were the visiting hours?
There are posted visiting hours but people came and went at all times and no one stopped them. That can be good and bad. Dads are allowed there from early am to I think 9-10 pm.
3. When was the baby in the room with you? At night?
The baby is with you all day but you can send them to the nursery at night. If you are nursing they will bring the baby to you once or twice to nurse.

ITA!!!!!
I had DD at Good Sam. It was crowed, had to share a bathroom and there was nooooo privacy
I had DS at Southside and LOVED it!!! I paid for the private room and it was worth every cent. It was clean, everyone was professional, and you could have the baby whenevr you wanted.
If I was ever going to have another (which I'm not), I would only go to Southside.

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
I gave birth at Southside both times and loved it both times. I had a private room with my own private bath and shower - it was like a hotel stay .. but with legal drugs!
The baby was there with me all the time - if I wanted him. At night they brought them in to be fed - but I was allowed to opt not to be woken up.
Visiting hours were fine and I always had extra people in.. they were pretty flexible.
My girlfriend gave birth at Good Sam and liked it - but visiting her convinced me that I NEVER want to give birth there.

Re: Good Samaritan Hospital
I just delivered at Good Sam 2 months ago. I was also there a month earlier on the L&D floor for a week when I went into pre-tern labor. I had a great experience both stays. The nurses were so nice and very attentive. The nurses were especially helpful in helping me learn to breastfeed and made sure I never stayed in pain. The nurses checked my incision every day.
1. Did you like your stay there? Yes and will deliver there again with the next.
2. How were the visiting hours? They are not very strict with visiting hours, and this will be my only complaint. Late at night when you are exhausted the last thing you want is to be bothered by other patients having visitors past the posted visiting hours! My bed was by the doorway and it really bothered me, it was hard falling to sleep. Someone would come around telling everyone to leave but visitors don't seem to listen and the staff is not too strict with them. One nice thing was the husbands get to stay as late as they want so I had my husband there from early in the morning until 10-11 pm at night. 3. When was the baby in the room with you? At night? I had my baby in the room with my all day and most of the night since I was BFing. It's really up to you. The nurses would bring him into me at night to feed and then come and check on me a while later and bring him back if I wanted them to. That was very nice since I was in a lot of pain initially and it was painful to get up and out of bed.
I definitely recommend!
