Re: Goose KillerHauppauge Industrial Park - Breaktime Deli

Seriously, I can't stop thinking about this...

I want to go there and do bad things, but of course I won't...

I can't beleive the police won't do anything...there was an article the other day on 1010WINS about a man who chased after geese on his boat with a rake and he was arrested... although it was in NJ

OMG, i wonder if it is the same family of geese that i saw crossing vanderbilt parkway on sunday. i was so moved that all the cars in both directions stopped and waited until the family crossed and NOT ONE driver honked.

The phone numbers of the aspca on long island are 382-7722 and 433-6969, not sure about the second number if it's 516 or 631. Anyway please call, the more people that call the more they can do.

I left work at 430 and they were closed. Is that normal for them? I kinda thought maybe they booked for a while.

Also if people go to protest in front of the truck or the store the media and the police will get involved. And that definetly not good for business, and more people will know about how disgusting this person is. And also if news 12, newsday, any other media and aspca get constant calls about this, usually something is done.

Re: Goose KillerHauppauge Industrial Park - Breaktime Deli

UPDATE:

Just got off the phone with my friend from work, the one who witnessed the incident. He says he's not sure what's going on with the police...he reported it but he doesn't know what they'll do with the information. The rep from the animal rights group he contacted has been calling him non stop (not sure of the name of the group). The rep went there yesterday and cleaned up the remains. That's pretty much all the update I have though. He says he'll keep me posted. Oh yeah, James (deli owner) hasn't been in since it happened. So we have no way of knowing if he's been contacted.

Re: Goose KillerHauppauge Industrial Park - Breaktime Deli

I am so glad that the witness reported it.And most of the time they do something about it especially if many people get involved. And for boycotting the deli, I am all for it. I have posted prior to this one about the incident and what can be done, HOPEFULLY!!!!
Now what happens to the geese that survived? Do they get medical attention?

I forwarded this info to my friend and this is what he said:

Yeah, I reported the incident with them along with SCPD. They then called the FWS (Federal Wildlife something) and they’re coming out today right now to document it and they want to press charges! Awesome!

I'm Chat Icon over this. I saw this once on Lakeville Road and the police were there with cones around them. What an inhumane waste of a life to do that to those beautiful creatures. I can't look at those pics. Chat Icon

I can't wait to see what will happen
I hope that the geese that were injured will get medical attention, if they can find them. And I hope that the charges stick and the person who did this is imprisoned, fined and loses his business.
Again, thank you for the updates.

If the geese were Canada geese, they are federally protected.

I'm the actual witness to the brutal display of animal cruelty, and I'm so happy to see so many people involved. It means so much to me that I wanted to make sure everyone received an update as to what is going on.

Just to reply to a couple of posts, I have no vendetta against James, and we got along for 5 years since I've worked here. The problem with the bug in the sandwich was a separate incident, and was solved.

It was the worst case of animal cruelty that I've seen. It was completely negligent and absurd. The family of geese that survived huddles in a small group and sat in the parking lot for a good 10 minutes before finally walking off and leaving the back parking lot. I kid you not, it was almost like they mourned them. I wish I had a camera phone but my blackberry does not have one.

This is amazing - on every level.

On another note: Like swans, geese mate for life. I believe that they do mourn when one is taken from them.

I agree...please keep us posted with details......Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon for you who took the time to file the complaints...I would have donw the same thing. I remember years ago there was topped traffic on a busy road because a family of geese walked across with street witheir their babies in single file, and everyone stopped for them. It must have taken them a good minute to walk across the street together, and all I kept thinking was awww, look at that cute family.

Everyone who works in the industrial park knows that the geese cross the roads and that accidental problems happen when people speed. This was in the back parking lot area, and at 6:30am so no one (other than me) witnessed the event.

He revved his engine, and purposely aimed for the geese, I can attest to that 100%. He didn't swerve, he didn't turn, he purposely drove to hit as many birds as possible. 2 died, and many other wounded birds walked off. I contacted the DEC, Suffolk County Police, the Star Foundation, PETA, etc. The FWS.GOV (Fish and Wildlife Service) is on their way here right now, and they have the ability to press charges, so that's where we stand right now.

The pictures on News 12 Sound Off section are taken from the Star Foundation rep (Arno) and the FWS is coming here now to take more pictures since the birds were moved to the back brush of the lot.

Also, FYI, the FWS read this post and contacted me regarding any other witnesses, so they saw your posts, and heard what you had to say. Thanks SO MUCH for the support, and again I'll keep you posted.

Tim

1st off I want to say I'm so sorry you had to witness something to horrible.
I cried when you said it looked they were mourning the ones that didn't make it. Chat Icon
2nd, thank you for coming on here to give us a 1st hand account of what happened.
And lastly, thank you for getting involved and taking action and taking a stand for those poor animals.Chat Icon

Please keep us updated.

I totally agree. You are an awesome person for being a champion of these poor animals. Why anyone would do that I can't imagine. This guy must be a real piece of shizz. I don't live in LI anymore but I will make sure to spread this to all my LI friends.
