Green thumbs....Partial Shade Plants??
DH is having stone delivered tomorrow to build two flower beds in front of our house...next step, new plants.
Do you have any recommendations for plants that do well in partial light/partial shade? We have morning sun, and then shade afterwards.
Anything "pretty" that would look good with a nice blue house?
TIA!

Both, I'd like to have some flowering plants... but also small trees as well.

Hastas do great anywhere
Roses of Sharon- do well in partial shade. We have a ton in our yard and they are so pretty.

Re: Green thumbs....Partial Shade Plants??
Here are some partial shade/partial sun:
Ferns Caladium (red leaf) but have different varieties Hosta (also a leaf but in many varieties)
Astilbe.....grows a purple flower
Also, if you go get a box of "Wild Flower Mix" pretty much anywhere........this is also a good idea for part sun/part shade and the variety of the flowers are beautiful.

Re: Green thumbs....Partial Shade Plants??
I was told by 2 different nurseries that almost any plant will do well if it has full morning sun. Afternoon sun is very strong and can dry out even full sun plants if not watered really well daily. I don't have full sun anywhere, but I do have a lot of morning sun and have planted whatever I wanted and had good results. Just double check with whoever you buy from and tell them exactly how much sun the area gets. You may not have to limit yourself as much as you think! Good luck!
