Gripe water vs Little remedies Gas drops
I am so confused on what the difference is. My gets such bad gas at night that she WAILS to get it out. I know the Ped said it is normal and this may be the case for the next 3 months. She is 2 weeks old. So I have 2 questions.
1. Is she too little to get either of the drops?
2. What is the difference between the two? I was looking at a previous post on gas and alot of people were saying they gave the little remedies gas drops before each bottle...and gripe water as needed. As needed meaning what? When they are having a crying episode due to gas?
I only bought gripe water but seeing if I need to buy the other drops too. I am pumping and giving her BM in a bottle...and give her 1 bottle of Gentle ease formula at night since I am still working on pumping enough. I don't know if that is really helping her since I only really give her one 3oz bottle of it a day.
I feel so bad that I can't console her during these nightly episodes...so hoping the drops will help.

Gripe water vs Little remedies Gas drops
To be completely honest, I'm not 100% sure on the difference. I always thought of gas drops as "medicine" and gripe water as more of a homeopathic cure. Gripe water never did anything for DD when it came to gas, but gas drops (somethicone) helped DD. However, some of my friends swear by gripe water, and say the gas drops didn't help. I did find that the gripe water helped with the hiccups though.
When DD had gas, I would also do a little bit of baby bicycle legs and then put gentle pressure on the top of her stomach, like near the rib cage, and then move my hands down towards her pelvis, to help things move along.

I have tried the bicycle legs with her and I don't notice them helping. I try rubbing her back and her stomach...maybe I will try the pressure too.

Gripe water vs Little remedies Gas drops
we have given DS gripe water since about 2 weeks old..I BF as well and learned certain foods I was eating caused increased gas. Try staying away from all gassy foods also, maybe its something you are eating..I realized if I was gassy so was the baby. Good Luck!

Re: Gripe water vs Little remedies Gas drops
My dd is soooo gassy. Turning 8 weeks tomorrow. We were up all night in the beginning trying to help her get the gas out. Things are getting better. She can relieve some by herself, and if she can't, she whines more than screams now til it comes out. She was also dx with a milk protein allergy and is on rx formula, which has not helped the gas but seems to have taken the edge off the pain. She usually does still cry when she poops though.
We found that the gripe water never really helped except maybe lately to take the edge off of her fussy witching hour. We gave the gas drops when she was about 2-3 weeks, to no avail. We tried again about 2 weeks ago (age 6 weeks) and we thought we saw a difference. It may be in our head, but we are giving them after every feeding. Though we do forget a lot.
The best advise I can give you is that it will get better...

Gripe water vs Little remedies Gas drops
I was giving DS gripe water until my Pedi said to stop because he didn't like that its not FDA approved. it's also a sedative which he didnt like either. So the little remedies or Target's Up & Up gas drops worked great!

Gas drops are for gas and gripe water is for an upset belly. When doing bicycle legs I found the gas only came out if we pumped their legs at the hip a few times after. Gl. This too shal pass.

This is true, but my bottle of gripe water also says for stomach discomfort due to gas.
Anyway I give my DD gas drops at every other bottle but especially at night. Its really hard to say if they do anything, my ped said its really hit or miss with the gas drops in babies and they only work like 50% of the time for relieving the gas. I only give her gripe water when she's having some kind of gas episode or attack where we just can't get her to stop crying, which is not often
